Anyone managed to grow their neck noticeably without weights? Just doing those neck flexion and extension movements?

I do neck curls and extensions with a weight plate. Wear a thick beanie to protect your face/head. For the sides I just do isometrics. I do not recommend wrestlers bridges unless you are already have a strong foundation. Keep it light and focus on lots of volume.

So increase the volume every week, until how long though? When I reach 100+ reps per movement, should I then use a weight plate?

And day on, day off?

Not only does it improve aesthetics it actually is important to have a strong neck. Whiplash in car accidents can cripple you and leave you with debilitating pain. F1 drivers have some of the strongest necks since cornering and braking speeds pull like 5g+ for 90 minute races.

Go by feel. Start doing 3x week. Then increase frequency and volume as you get used to the loads. Remember to start slowly and focus on full range and controlled movements. You don't want to jerk around heavy weights. I recommend reps of 20-25 slow and controlled.

Noted. I have done neck training before at home just doing the manual movements, but I always fall off after like a week. Most boring **** ever.

But I def. am in close range to a pencil neck if taken into consideration my physique.

Thanks for the neck motivation boost

Thick neck is the key sexual dimorphic characteristic. Look at every mammal species between the sexes. The males always have thick ass necks. Even in non predator species like deer. Look at the neck size between a doe and a buck. Huge difference.

The neck has the highest concentration of androgen receptors in the body.

Yeah once you get to 100 reps territory you can add some weight

Yeah I mean it holds up the most important part of your body, why neglect it

Not to mention it shields all the nerves originating from your brain to the rest of your body. Neck injuries can result in nerve damage and loss of control to your extremities. Worse case scenario you become paraplegic.

Neck training is safe as long as you keep the loads light and use controlled motion.

Nice. If you have access to a 4 way neck machine or bands/harness use it. But you don't need expensive equipment as a beginner. Just some weight plates and a thick beanie (to protect your face/head).

Will I be able to build some size by just going to 100 on sets? Don't have a plate and no where to get one at the moment. Or is the size only once you have conditioned yourself to start using weights?

You can only go so far with push ups and pullups if you know what I mean

Size comes with progressive overload like any other muscle. You are exactly right. Manual resistance will only get you so far like pushups. But it is better than nothing I suppose.

Just remember not to overdo it at first.

Even good looking people will look better with a thicker neck. I know that Brad Pitt in Fight Club is considered the pinnacle of aesthetics. But look how much of a difference a thicker neck makes. Brad Pitt 1.0 looks like a twink compared to Brad Pitt 2.0.
