How many U.S. gun homicides are suicide?
I think the other question is how many of these gun homicides are from gang violence and which demographic commits the most gun induced homicides?
Until people start asking honest questions and doing a root cause analysis, and disregarding political correctness and feelings then gun violence will not be reduced.

A majority of "gun violence" is in the inner cities. Remove that and the overall rate is really low.
1: Cut off the notion/idea of receiving welfare for life. Allow it for a certain amount of years to help those who fall on hard times.
2: Provide more resources for the inner cities and those in poverty.
3: Society is influenced by "gangsta" culture. Discourage it.
4: Focus on the family instead of whatever will provide instant pleasure.
5: Remove the NFA and institute a federal ccw permit with reciprocity.

The only time any statistically significant amount of legal gun owners commit murder is a domestic violence situation. But taking away guns is not the answer. The answer is better support for women or men in those situations, often they have been beaten several times and the person who hurt them is allowed back in their house, protection orders are hard to get and do **** all. People get barely any jail time at all for domestic violence. Situations most often escalate over time and there is almost always an opportunity there to fix situation. There is often a compounding mental health issue as well and better mental health resources would go a long way as well.

And yes, domestic violence is a big factor which also won't be solved by banning guns. They'll just use something else.

As far as I can tell, here are the following issues with the gun control debate
1 - People keep focusing on "weapons of war". This is stupid because 64% of all gun-related murder is handguns. Rifles were involved in 4% and shotguns in 2%. The left, in my opinion, wants to virtual signal and stop things that sound scary then actually focusing on the issue.

in 2017, handguns were involved in the majority (64%) of the 10,982 U.S. gun murders and non-negligent manslaughters for which data is available, according to the FBI. Rifles – the category that includes many guns that are sometimes referred to as “assault weapons”– were involved in 4%. Shotguns were involved in 2%.
2. The one size fits all approach is stupid. Gun ownership is very different in urban and rural areas. The threat level isn't the same when there are 10 people in a mile radius vs 10,000.The most urban counties experienced 3.04 times the firearm homicide rate of the most rural counties before adjustment. After adjustment, the most urban counties experienced 1.90 (95% CI=1.50, 2.40) times the firearm homicide rate of the most rural counties
3. A large portion of these guns are obtained illegally. In the 13 states with the fewest restrictions on gun ownership, 40 percent of inmates illegally obtained the gun they used, Webster said. Only about 13 percent purchased the gun from a store or pawn shop.
4. When you account for suicide, the gun problem looks a LOT better. It still isn't great but it is much better. There were 39,740 deaths from firearms in the U.S. in 2018. Sixty-one percent of deaths from firearms in the U.S. are suicides. In 2018, 24,432 people in the U.S. died by firearm suicide.1 Firearms are the means in approximately half of suicides nationwide.
From 1989 to 1999, 584629 individuals died from intentional injuries; 57.8% were categorized as suicides and 42.2% as homicides. Firearms were involved in 62.9% of these deaths, and mechanisms other than firearms were involved in 34.5%. Mechanism of death was unknown for the remaining 2.6%.
I think there is a lot that can be done to reduce gun deaths. It's just really frustrating that there is so much misinformation out there. Also, the fact people pretend like the second amendment doesn't exist or interpret it in the stupidest possible way is reaaaally disheartening.

Most people caught with possession of illegal fire arms are not really put away for long in most of the urban cities, so there are no real consequences.

If you wanted to cut down a big part of the crime you'd have to get straight to the source, but that wouldn't fly in todays PC culture.

Revoke guns and gun rights from anyone not legally registered as a citizen, anyone with any history of mental illness and anyone with a police record?

Why don't u talk about gun crime in Brazil? Colombia? Or Mexico? Most firearm related death. Or does that go against your theory? Poor areas bring violence
