Not a single job has checked if my degree is legit

I literally could have just lied, never went to school, and put it on my resume and saved myself a ton of cash and time.

Same. My first job out of college I was worried they were going to request records for my GPA.

Have never had a single job verify my degree.

You must have a chit job of little importance. The kind robots will be doing soon.

It must be a garbage job at a very low-tier company.

Every legit company I have ever worked for had 3rd party data verification firms on retainer to verify all information. People were fired, and some sued for fraud for falsely listing verified info.

Maybe because "fry chef" doesn't require a degree and just because you set the automatic timer and temperature control doesn't make it a "tech job".

not srs lol

Also, LOL at saying you'll be sued or go to jail for fraud for lying on a resume. Most cases no. Especially with a private company. Yeah, you pretend to be a doctor and make fake credentials and someone dies as a result you might be in some serious trouble but because you said you have a degree but don't no.

Yeah, except the part where they would’ve never been hired in the first place, not fired. It’s called the pre-employment background check after all. These 3rd parties check your SS#, drivers license, criminal record, address history, etc. to verify you are who you claim you are. At no point have I ever come across a “yes, all information provided is exactly the same as the information I provided on my resume”, just simply that all the information I gave to them is correct.

Resume padding can cause issues down the line for promotions and such, but unlikely to hurt someone getting an entry level job.

Funniest "verification" I have ever had was I went to work for this one company that verified everything. They went back 10 years on employment history. One company I had worked for 8 years prior was now out of business. This stupid HR bish actually called me to ask me for the personal contact info of my supervisors so they could verify through them that I had worked there before. Then she said that one of my references didn't have any information on me and that was because they were purchased by new owners and although the same building it wasn't even the same kind of business. Just another example of why women make $0.60 to the dollar a man makes.

Yeah I doubt anyone is going to jail for lying on a resume for a normal job. Unless you’re trying to get a government job, fbi, cia, etc. then pepper your angus if caught lying.

Nobody tells the complete truth on a resume. Everyone tries to make themselves seem more important than they actually are.

Its called education verification when jobs do a background check. A job is not going to let you know what they check when they do a background check

I don't know, I have a Federal job and they definitely verify/make you send official transcripts.

Jobs prior to that, I have no clue.

Repped for originality. I wonder too, it's like the same as going on welfare (which I won't & never will) how often do people check these 'things' to really know if you're qualified?

but who was background check? most corporate jobs require a third party background check to confirm education, past employment experiences, criminal history, places of residence, etc.

HR will verify the information in your resume / application and have the right to rescind an offer if the report does not check out

The last job I was at was a small company and I know they got there hands on copies of my transcripts because the CEO made mention of what was in my transcripts to me. Not everyone checks but some do for sure
