Bro I know I think way too ****ing much. But here's my issue: I've grown up in a period where there really is no truth. I think we all have. But if we cling to our past, if we isolate ourselves from the greater world, then perhaps we can move forward without concern for our way of life. But this is irresponsible isn't it? I remember as a kid when Columbus Day was celebratory. Now, Columbus is a rapist and pillager or something. I've always believed America stood for freedom and scientific truth, that we were the greatest country that's ever been. We've been winning world wars against communism because communism is BAD! Look what it did in the Soviet Union! In China! All those unnecessary deaths. And yet, as I get older, I'm becoming more and more disillusioned by capitalism. Anyone who subscribes to western capitalist thinking puts money almost at the forefront of their brain. It's the primary motivator, and yet the extraction and creation of wealth is precisely what's going to end us. Unless science comes in at the 11th hour with a greenhouse gas machine. We're destroying forests and oceans and land because.... we're short sighted and just eager to earn the biggest paycheck we can, eat fancy food, live in unprecedented wealth - but we are actively seeing the erosion of this perception. The wealth gap is widening, people are living in less poverty overall, but that doesn't mean we aren't all striving for more more more, when it's clear we are out of balance with the ecosystem.

You all have to understand that some of these kids come from bad parents and bad environments. You have to look at the bigger picture instead of mercilessly throwing them in jail. It's great you were a perfect angel growing up, but not everyone has that path. Tons of criminals change for the better, so instead of talking about them like dogs, treat them like human beings. Except for rapists and molesters, burn them at the stake.
