How much do I tip my Barber? 1st real cut in 8 years.
Going to get a haircut/beard trim at a reputable Barber Shop in about 2 hours. I've been cutting my hair myself for the last 8 years, but figured since I'm getting married in 2 weeks, I should let a professional do it.
Strong Norwood II, approaching III.....don't even know what to tell them I want.
Total should be about 40-50 bucks, how much do I tip?

Yea, I figured it was kind of expensive, but it's the whole "men's barbershop" experience thing.....not like a Great Clips or other run of the mill hair cut place.
$25 for the cut & $15 for the beard sculpt....I've purposely been letting both go for like 6 months. lol
I figured $5-10 if I like it.

Don't know what's more bizarre..the prices you guys are paying for haircuts or the tips you're giving to your barbers for just doing their job. I tip 2 bucks. Cost for cut is 13. so 15 total.

-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Barbers don't need to get tipped. Most are not wage slaves and actually are self employed. Therefore tip isn't necessary but you'll probably still feel social pressure to tip them. Just give the minimum necessary. On a $40-50 bill you can get away with $5.. but again you don't actually need to tip anyone who is self-employed if you are paying an appropriate price for their services.

35+20. Everyone else that cuts it looks great when I leave, nightmare 2 weeks later. Sheβs a pro, fully booked months in advance - just waiting for her to get poached by the big fancy salon and then it will be $75+tip. I can push her cuts 8 weeks w/ a cleanup trim.
Used to go to an old Chinese woman who owned her own 1 seat salon. $10 cash would not accept tip. She needed some specialty razors for neck trimming that her supplier stopped selling - found the manufacturer and had a 1/2 pallet shipped to her shop - free cuts & jumped the line after that. She retired a few years back and it was hard asf to find a suitable replacement.

Dude only charged me $30 for the whole thing. Tipped him $10. Took his time, was talkative, ex-navy dude. Ill go back to him
Beard trim is perfect. Haircut....well, it's shorter on the top than I was wanting but that's my fault for not being more detailed when I told him what I wanted and even at 35 I'm not taking the receding hairline well and this cut does nothing for it. lol
FiancΓ© likes it......like, walked in the door and she told me to take off my pants likes it, so I'm good with it.
