Only benched 305x14 yesterday

Followed by 3 more sets of 10. Couldn't hit 15 on the first set, should I have just dropped the bar on my neck?

Juicing diet gives you strength you don't really have.

How can we be sure you really benched anything at all? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've just been running a linear style of programming for my bench lately in cycles of 6 weeks. Two weeks of 10s, then 8s, then 5s. After that, start the cycle all over again with 5-10 lbs more on each week.

Sometimes, if I'm feeling good, I'll rep out my first set and do extra reps on the following sets. Instead of 305x8, I did 14 and then instead of 3 more sets of 8, I just did 10s.

If I'm not prepping for a meet, I prefer benching in higher rep ranges.

I don’t care how many reps you do. If you don’t have at least 3 plates on the bar did you even lift?

You do raise a good point.

I'm doing all the invisible sub-3 plate work now so that I can hopefully bench 455 in a few training cycles. 4 plates and a 25 would be a nice milestone.

Pandemic should be affecting the juicing diet severely

I think this was a dream you may have had

OP tried to bench 205 and couldn't

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You gotta bench just the bar for ballistic reps - go go go

When I hit 180kg (396lbs) last week; my best 3 plate rep was x 8.

You could probably hit 400 if you watched a few prawnhub vids beforehand.

OP what routine are you on currently?

Looking to get back into strength training.
Currently only benching 255lbs after a long layoff, and no real bench/chest training these last 4ish years.

Wanting to hit 315 for 1rm by June.

Congrats. I haven't been able to bench serious weight in weeks as my home set-up doesn't really allow me to lift serious lead. I am repping 225 x 14 right now, but am not playing a numbers game and focus on muscle growth.

If you lift in pounds, you can't do 400 when 405 is right there lol.

I do my own linear thing right now based off an old Ed Can peaking cycle.

Bench is largely about technique. Sometimes you can add a lot of weight just by fixing that. After that, it's practice and consistency.

Just find ways to make the weight you do have harder to lift by manipulating rest time, rep ranges, exercise selection, etc.
