ARK obviously has every reason to push these price forecasts. The bull case is completely farcical: $327billion in autonomous ride-hailing revenue by 2025?

Who here thinks there will be even 1 fully autonomous vehicle on the roads by 2025? Back in 2016 these people were claiming we'd have fleets of autonomous vehicles on the road by 2021, here we are and still nothing has moved beyond Level 2. We are legit probably decades away from a true robotaxi much less one company making $327billion in revenue from armies of them

I just don't understand why people can see Ford, GM, Toyota, and VW valuations and think Tesla worth waaaaaaaaaaay more? Makes ZERO sense UNLESS you truly believe Tesla gonna have autonomous vehicles 5+ years before competitors, their battery technology manages to overwhelm everyone and suddenly they become a battery supplier for the entire world, AND they become a huge player in the electric markets making grids more efficient (storing energy during low times and selling during peak times).

Real talk though- when are Electric-cels gonna start paying their way for road maintenance? Not even sure how you manage to even that out.

Mate it's because Tesla isn't just a car company. They're disrupting the energy sector and yes the autonomous taxis will be a game changer.

And no, Ford & GM are not innovative companies, I'm not banking on them being market leader for electric vehicles (or anything for that matter).

I hear you though because I used to think like you. I do not like the Tesla car (German cars crew) and won't buy one myself, it took me a lot of hours to understand wtf Tesla COMPANY was about, so DYOR, you'd be surprised (as I did) and form your own opinion.

Seems the consensus among automated driving experts is that fully autonomous vehicles are decades away, it's just hugely detached from what's being sold to the public and the people involved fukn know it. Somewhere down the line they'll hit us with a "we never thought fully autonomous vehicles would happen by this date" because of some nuance in the verbiage, like Lordstown Motors coming out and saying they don't think anyone believed they had "real orders" for their vehicles after the report from Hindenburg

You didn't read past the first sentence in my post did you?

Regardless, I would agree that US legacy auto companies are going under mainly due to pension liabilities they'll never get on top of and the labor costs due to heavy union presence.

This. EVs are horrible for the environment, anyway. I hope they get destroyed within the decade. Porsche has already created a synthetic fuel that will allow the internal combustion engine to live on.

Not to mention 60% of the electricity comes from fossil fuels so when they're charging their "clean" cars yep....60%

Whatever happened to the hydrogen fuel cells?

I dont think that is the case here... even if we add everything besides the car sales... tsla would still be overvalued imo, so I take it as everything is priced in at this market cap, for me there is only a little upside compared to the HUGE risk you take when you invest into tesla at these levels.

I will consider investing in the EV sector when we see a correction (which will inevitably come) even tho I hate EVs

There are still some companies pursuing hydrogen. Without double checking I want to say BMW and Toyota are the big names? The main downside is that you lose alot compressing hydrogen (~10-15%)and even more liquifying it (~40%).

^ Agreed, EV is not exactly environment friendly, charging is great and green on paper but electricity is most likely coming from coal power plants lel. So I agree with other miscers, nuclear power is the future if they can fix the idk, meltdowns. Then EV would be great for consoomers, charge overnight, then commute to work, no more gas station/emissions. If solar panel tech picks up, that'd be nice too, the tesla solar/powerwall/ev combo.

I think bill gates is onto something here since he bought up a chitload of farmland, prepping for synthetic fuel. It doesn't make sense to make ALL ICE cars completely obsolete, and not enough mine/batteries for everyone.
Outside of chernobyl, most of the other "problems" have been somewhat of success stories that have highlighted flaws in the system to get fixed. And, compared to other power sources, nuclear has killed/injured virtually no one. The problem it suffers from is misinformation.

"In Norway, electric vehicle sales have gone from zero to nearly 60% penetration between 2010 and 2019. Despite such a dramatic shift away from oil, Norway’s carbon intensity has declined by10% compared with 11% in the US where EVs remain less than 2% of all vehicle sales."

"Given the huge upfront energy needs of wind, solar and batteries, any performance disappointment could mean the difference between moderate carbon savings and net increases in carbon. "

"Countries that have adopted natural gas, on the other hand, have seen better results while spending trillions less. Moving towards nuclear generated electricity is an even better option and would allow for the greatest carbon reduction while still saving trillions."

This is why Oil/Gas and Nuclear are investments that offer the most substantial upside.
