Yeah, if this was nature happening, then yeah who cares that's life son. But to instigate something like this is kind of a dikk move tbh.

But at the same time we got dudes firing machine guns into hordes of wild boar, so pick your poison. Crock or Glock.

1. Well, the scientists who study this seem to believe that it does indicate a level of "emotional intelligence". The three animal groups (primates, elephants, whales) display behaviors that seem far more developed than almost all other creatures, so I think it's fair to assume that they are more developed as far as cognition goes.

2. Fair point, I don't really have a counterargument here. I don't know about animals having free will. The only thing I can say is that free will is seldom free from outside influences. If someone is in a position where they either starve to death or have to steal some food, is stealing really a choice? You know what I mean?

3. Just because a species is endemic to a region, doesn't mean its numbers can go unchecked. They had to re-introduce wolves to Yellowstone because of overpopulation of elk. The balance of nature is delicate, so humans should not interfere by baiting animals into predation, hunting in unsustainable ways, destroying habitat, etc.

1. Maybe they do then.

2. It is still a choice even if it is a choice I think most would make in the scenario.

3. Right but the reason the elk overpopulated was because the wolves and buffalo were eradicated in the first place. I understand what you are saying but it takes a lot more than baiting some hogs into the water for gators to have an influence. In fact American alligators were endangered not too long ago.

I think the main difference for me is that this was facilitating a natural event. If they had taken an animal and thrown it in the water to watch a gator pull it under, that would be different.

I think you're missing people's points here. There's totally nothing wrong with hunting and killing animals for food. There's also nothing wrong with alligators eating wild pigs. Someone luring the pig to an early death purely for their own entertainment however is somewhat sadistic imo and just doesn't sit well with me.

People are really only upset because of the hog squealing and trying to get away for several seconds. Had the gator taken one chomp at the neck and immediately executed the hog and pulled it under, people would've been like "meh" and maybe even laughed.

Wow...this is one of those threads that really demonstrates how psychotic and mentally deranged a large number of miscers are. I can't even imagine the level of stupidity combined with mental illness needed for someone not to understand why the behavior of the humans in the video is utterly repulsive and despicable.

Lol some of you really do deserve the prison term that is your life.

in 2021, there are probably better ways of exterminating a pest than baiting it into drowning/getting eaten alive

so shooting it would be the more ethical option.

You can judge the person's nature off of the impulse, but Vexidi is right it makes no difference whatsoever to the hog lol. Marshmallow bait, grenade launcher, it's still the same outcome in the end.

A better analogy would’ve been abortions, seeing as millions do actually support that, which many see as blatant murder. No one supports mass shootings. Are they even educating children over there or are you an anomaly?

This is nature. If you have a problem you can go teach alligators to eat tofu so they dont hurt any animals. There is nothing unnatural about what happened. A human assisted an alligator to eat. Are bumans not part of the animal kingdom? If a chimp threw the marshmellow would you mellow out?

lmao fuk that pig. Good for the allogator. Too bad there weren't 10 alligators to get all of them.

This. Morals develop based on common rules we can all live by to help each other. In this case, the hog doesn't give a fuk about you, so why should you give a fuk about it? That's how morality is supposed to work. Love thy neighbour, but only thy neighbour, not the entire world.

The difference is that one is actually virtuous and should be held in high regard by others, the other is not. Complaining that he's doing something to show that he's better than you, when that thing actually does make him better than you, is just dumb.

you're arguing about animals being eaten alive by predators in a habitat? this is literally how nature works. Animals are consumed alive screaming with their entrails pulled out slowly or their faces chewed off alive.

First of all, I already stated in the thread I don't care about the damn pig lol. The reality is that most liberals aren't good people, and most conservatives aren't tough. I've been around long enough to know people's true colors. This is the internet; people's claims about themselves and their posturing mean nothing unless they can prove it. Virtue signalling, especially online, is done by people who want to feel better about themselves by getting validation/affirmation.
