You can't get a F4i in Indy for under $4k right now. I know someone that sold an older one with a rebuilt title for $3,400 last week. Bike market is getting as bad as the housing market around here. Seller's market for sure. Hell, look at me selling my DRZ even for $100 more than I paid for it 5 years earlier.

going to be attempting to change out the tires on the grom by myself, according to the internet there is no need to balance them out. other things I have lined up:
-1t front sprocket
-subcage
-grips + quick turn throttle tube
-Fresh fluids
Dont think I will mess with big bore kits or an exhaust for now
can't wait to go 12 o clock on this thing

an exhaust, proper jetting and airbox mod on my old DRZ was a huuuuuge difference though

Finally had to take my 2011 zx6r to Kawasaki. It's been having battery issues since last Fall even with a new battery. Also replaced the rectifier; which made it worst LOL. Gave up and took it to dealer. Dealer called me and said $1062 to replace the stator and rectifier. It was a new rectifier (a week old) but they said the bad stator fried it already? Anyways, I brought the the old rectifier and they said that one may work so it may drop the quote about $150. It's been in shop since March 11th and still not ready. Parts shipped some time this week hoping to have her back early next week. First time in my 13 years I had to take a bike to a shop outside of tires.
I looked into replacing stator myself seems difficult but doable. But I have no garage, stands, and lack proper tools (live in condo). So I was like whatever guess dealer can do it.

dealer is right though if there is a problem with the stator or r/r, better to replace both at the same time

That's crazy expensive IMO for a stator and rectifier. Any time you do one you need to do the other. Only replacing one almost will never solve the issue. I had to do 4-5 replacements on 3 of my 4 Hondas.

I agree it's way more expensive than I anticipated. I was thinking $600/700 range. I think parts are around $400 + $150 diagnostic fee and I guess rest is labor + taxes. I haven't gotten a full breakdown yet. And yea maybe it's not worth trying to keep the old rectifier; I'll see what they say. I don't really have an alternate besides finding a non dealer shop to fix it; that would probably save a few hundred but I probably wont bother. Would have to borrow friends truck to trailer it and all that. And it's hard to find a good non dealer bike shop.
Honestly I feel like when I had the clutch replaced in my old Celica it cost less than this...

My girlfriend's Grom has been in my garage for two weeks. I'm almost debating on a Grom or Z125, but probably Z, because eff Honda.

Kneedragger brahs... lend me your ears. I have a tiny dilemma.
Right now we are saving a little bit more for our wedding and I just made a payment for a year of BJJ for me and my son. Because of that I am waiting a bit to purchase so I have too much time on my hands to overthink this decision now.
I used to have an 07 Daytona 675 and tracked that. Quit the track and never rode it on street so I sold it 3 years ago. Itching to go back now. Mostly to the track but also open to getting something for both track and street. I started on a 250 back when they are ugly so I have no shame, but part of me kinda wants something that looks a bit better. Thankfully 250-300s these days don't look like garbage anymore, lol.
Track only option:
-buy someone else's race bike, most likely a 300 that already modded for a nice discount on those mods. ~$2-3k max
Track plus street options (all used prob)
-Japanese 300 ($)
-Husky Vitpilen 401 or 701 ($ vs $$). Nice city hoon bike and can track it I guess. Could use this one to take waifu and son around town easier than the others.
-Panigale (hehe) ($$$), used before 2015 and the 1098 or so should be <$12k.
My ego says to get the Panigale. My bank account and fun factor say to get the track queen and just invest the money into track days. Thoughts?

-Panigale (hehe) ($$$), used before 2015 and the 1098 or so should be <$12k.
My ego says to get the Panigale. My bank account and fun factor say to get the track queen and just invest the money into track days. Thoughts?
If I was getting a track-only bike, I'd def. have someone else do most of the prep work for me since I don't have a lot of time/tools to do it (replacing all bolts, safety wiring said bolts, etc). I've seen some awesome fully tracked out bikes for 2-3k. Would probably go for a 600 or a newer r3/ninja 400. Maybe even a tracked out SV650
As for track and street, the husqies look awesome if you are not afraid of going with non-japanese bikes. You'd probably be better off with the 701 if you're doing street and track, I don't know much about the Vitpilen.
I had a great time on the track with sportbikes on my DRZ400sm, get smoked on the straights but catch right back up/pass on corners with ease.
I would get a R3/Ninja 400 for street+track use personally if I was to go back, maybe a 600cc supersport but most likely won't get another liter bike.. Can't seem to control myself on the street and I def. don't want to get into any trouble. The ability to warp to any location you want, power to do wheelies in any gear any RPM range... It's so fun but I just have this feeling of impending doom where my antics will catch up with me, and I don't want to end up on the news

Thanks for the thought out reply, m8.
It's ugly but already tuned and has some nice upgrades. Price dropped to $2k, might be able to go a few hundo lower. Surprised it's still out there so maybe there's something about it I'm not seeing that makes it less desirable. It is a 2012 and a 250.
Trust me I'm definitely tempted to pick up a 600-1000cc+ bike! Ultimate goal is one day have a place to take some small dirtbikes to for me and my son to flat track on. I think there's one place around me that does that and it's far away and kinda expensive. So, maybe I should be saving up for land instead. He's got a better chance at being a pro than I do if we did something like that

But then like you said insurance and not really being able to push it, etc.My ego and nuts would tell me to go for the Panigale. Then after I bring it home, I'd probably be too scared to push it on the street or track because if I go down I know it's going to be a heeeeeavy hit on the wallet. I also know I wouldn't be able to push it 100%, at least on the tracks where I live which are more suited for cars rather than bikes. Not to mention insurance costs if you're doing track+street. But it's a freaking panigale.

Would need to come up with a solution for how to get it to the tracks, too, so of course it's no where near as cheap as I think it'll be, haha.
