Dominicans don't embrace their African roots, OP. They consider themselves native and Spanish. That's why they don't get along with Haiti where they embrace their African heritage and ignore the rest. Each coubtry reminds the other of the parts of themselves they want to forget.

I had a relative that was a doctor in the DR and what you're saying is crazy truth. However, it's weird to the point of being far more crazy that what you're saying.

My relative brought people back to the states and they were visiting my family. They were supposed to be "Spanish" and clearly they were black, but they were very rich and to them, they were white.

There's also a saying there to say someone is stupid "He's black behind the ears" meaning he has secret genetics that make him stupid.

From my experiences, Hispanics are the most race obsessed people ever.

I've talked to super white Hispanics who say they aren't and all kinds of nonsense.

If you compare you average Haitian to average Dominican tho you can tell the difference big time. It’s like putting your typical southern Italian against say an Austrian.

Dominicans have issues with Haitians because Haiti occupied Dominican Republic for 20 years. And currently they deal with illegal Haitian Immigration. You guys need to do your research before just saying chit
