The Omega Man with Charleton Heston was a film that was based on the same story.

They ruined the Will Smith one by dumbing it down.

The idea is that everyone on Earth is an INTELLIGENT vampire and Will Smith character is the last human. He goes around killing vampires, who are now the majority so they are normal. Thus Smith is the Monster and what used to be monsters are now normal.

Thus, Smith is a LEGEND for being a horrible human monster the vampires are scared of.

Smith's desire to be human and have humans around is now perversion and he has to die so the vampires can live.

So, it's one of those stories about being careful about calling people weirdos, because one day you might be the weirdo.

Yeah, seen it a fews days ago and still as good as when it came out.
Hopefully we won't end up like those people, with all the shots we are given right now by Big Pharma.

I saw that film back in 2008 or so. Good movie, I love the German Shepherd. Will Smith gave a good performance

Only weak part was the CGI they used for the monsters

Rewatched it maybe a week ago because of this vaccine controversy. I wish the movie went on longer. Felt like they shortened it to fit in a normal movie block

Saw it in theaters back in the day. Saw it on netflix. Might give it a rewatch.

I'm not sure about the book but Omega Man, which I saw as a kid, is what sticks in my mind.

The vampires were still vampires but they were smart and into being vampires and wanted to continue to live like they wanted to live. Since Charleton Heston was the last human his interests didn't matter anymore and he needed to die.

Some of that movie reminded me of 60s concerns about hippies. If everyone wants to be a hippie and do drugs, crime, and have no families, then there isn't anything the last traditional people can do about it.

There's a lot of meaning in the story but I thought the Will Smith movie had no meaning other than self-sacrifice and that was kinda shocking. It's like someone made it who had no idea what the story was about.

What he trying to tell you is how dystopian society will get and how masses will be brains-washed as seeing that Good values and good humanity will be categorized as bad while all the sins we are seeing today such as man not having honour, respect , the warrior spirit , good values , work ethic and so much more ...

In the original the vampires were intelligent. If I remember correctly with a hierarchy/civilization. Heston became the savage that was hunting and killing the vampires because they were different from him.



If I remember correctly they dumbed down the Will Smith version intentionally. It had the potential to be incredibly dark but they didn't want to make it that way. They should have.


For some strange reason even when Hollywood makes a horror film they don't want to make it too 'dark'. The only post-apocalyptic movie I thought they nailed was The Road.

With all characters who are very smart, they dumb that down in movies, Tarzan, Batman, etc he has not yet been shown to a be a genius.

The only character that stays at that level is Sherlock Holmes for some reason. I think it's because they English are not yet total degenerates and have pride in cultural things.
