Loved it. Just rewatched the whole Monsterverse, one a day leading up into this. Was thoroughly satisfied. Been a Godzilla fan longer than anything else, I watched the Toho movies like 30 years ago when I was 2, srs. Godzilla, Nickelodeon, and SNES were my early, early childhood.

GvK had some of the best kaiju fights ever made, for sure. I think it should've been a good 30 - 45 minutes longer, though, and had more build-up to that 3rd act reveal.

I liked it for the most part.

But here's what I didn't like:

- they cast an Asian dude who barely speaks English. Like come on, there's a ton of English speaking Asian actor brahs out there. It's like you made him sound cringey on purpose.

- the last fight with mech Godzilla was a little cringey. They gave us too much of a good thing. I didn't want to see just nonsense fighting and destruction. Every move needs to have more meaning and power.

- I didn't like how they CGI a world on top of a world. In any movie where they did this, it always looked fake. That is because our eyes see light rays coming from the sky hitting objects on earf. Where is the lighting coming from if its blocked by land in the sky? Its coming from the side, which means the shadows should all be casted left and right.

- I felt like they made Kong a little too smart. That ruins the whole beast aspect to it.

That movie was perfect. Under 2hrs long, ran on pure Saturday morning cartoon logic, and delivered the monster fighting action. A Godzilla vs Kong movie could not have turned out any better.

Also loved how the Chinese production company had the monsters rek both the US Navy and Hong Kong. U r 1 cheeky kunt m8.

I've never really got the whole godzilla thing but I suppose you need to be exposed to it from an early age like star wars otherwise it just seems stupid.

My only complaint is that it could have been a little longer. I enjoyed the movie a lot. No stupid character development, just monster battles.

I thought it was a fun Friday movie.

It had very good production values.

The CGI was pretty good as Kong looked natural for being a giant ape cartoon. It looked very good and not stupid.

I watched it with my kid. These Monsterverse movies have been progressively getting bigger and stupider as they come, this being the biggest and the stupidest yet. Boy they fuked up Hong Kong though, eh?

I enjoyed it, obviously the usual complaints of too many humans and not enough monster fighting, but they did deliver on the monster fighting at key moments in spades.

I was not a fan of how FAST these monsters were, particularly Godzilla. He moved like at lightning fast speeds, I prefer my giant monsters to be slower. If anything, Godzilla could have been significantly slower than Kong to make up for him clearly being all around more powerful and better in every other aspect besides maybe raw strength.

Watching on my OLED in 4K HDR was jaw dropping. The neon lights throughout the city during the battle were hnnnnnnnnggggggg.

Definitely entertaining and worth the watch.

I liked the "Place where Kong" was from that they had to travel to.

I read about that idea as a kid and I was like WHAT when they ended up going there.

Also:

I recently downloaded a 2D animation program I am learning for fun.

If you look at this movie and think about it, you're seeing like two hours of moving paintings. The art in the film is awesome and makes the movie no matter how crazy it is.
