He is assisting with his own arm and therefore still lifting his entire weight. I know at least one guy, who regularily did these and now does proper one arm pull ups. It's a legit excersize.

I never tried to see how many in a row.

Pullups normally 4 sets of 5-8 reps and chinups 4 sets of 8-12 I think.

different muscles and by far the most important part is stabilization, not strength. You had the strength but couldn't keep everything in line which is why assisted ones are so much easier. Once you start trying to progress and your opposite arm is only holding your bicep is when it gets real
