It's this. There are many women driving manual too. After about 25 nobody gives a damn what kind of gearshifting you have in your car.
I'm manual crew too by the way, manual chitbox from 2008 lol.

Lol my first car was a 1994 ford mustang and the only thing I added to it was a short throw shifter which was pretty sweet. But ultimately that thing SUCKED in the winter with the rear wheel drive and only had like 150hp. I remember my dumb ass trying to save up for a turbo charger or super charger but looking back on it now I’m so glad I couldn’t afford it. The difference in the way I drive now at age 31 compared to when I was 17-20 is like night and day, lol.

And if you wanna measure levels of “alpha-ness”, being in top physical shape and driving an automatic is way more respectable than being a fat fuk who can drive a stick shift, lol.

Why not both?

Weekend car is a 6 speed manual, DD truck is 6 speed auto. I daily drove manual cars for years. I now prefer convenience in a daily.

And yes, modern autos are far faster than any human can shift with a manual trans, but I'm not trying to drag race the world and a manual is just so much more fkn fun to drive.

I know how to and originally learned to drive in a manual - but its Pretty silly to try to turn something like this into a dick measuring contest, or to choose a vehicle based on the type of transmission so you don't feel like a "soy boy".

Drive both crew

I own a 2008 Acura TL Type S, and a 2015 Ford Escape SE. The TL is awesome to rip on my way to my base on the weekend (turnpike/country driving).. But going to work every day I take the Escape since there's so much traffic.

I loved my modified VW GTI, but the time I got stuck on the beltway crawling in a snow storm for 5 hours going 1 mile made me reconsider my love for manual transmissions.

Manual is a blast if you live in an area that lets you enjoy it. Constant shifting/downshifting in stop and go red light traffic is awful.

I tried buying a newer version of my at the time current model std transmission and they said it would cost more and have to be special ordered. TFW nowadays it cost *more* to buy a manual transmission. My truck I recently bought doesn't even have a manual option.

Never understood why people took the whole "manual vs automatic transmission" concept so seriously. If you want to drive a vehicle primarily for fun over general practicality (sports car, any type of motorized bike), or you truly just love driving manuals that much, then drive manuals. If you care more about pracicality and are talking about an every day driver vehicle, then go with automatic. It's that simple.

The manual vs automatic debate became completely stupid once automatics started consistently outperforming than manuals. That completely shattered the claim to supposed masculinity that guys people obsessed with manuals had. It is not "less masculine" to pick the option that is not only far less hassle, but now also performs better in automatics.

Also, lot the arguement of manuals being a car theft deterrent. Told mostly by guys with stories about how some thief already broke into their cars/started breaking chit inside before realizing they couldn't actually take it due to it being manual. If car theft is among your top concerns when choosing a vehicle, then you've got way bigger problems to worry about than some stupid online debates about the manliness of manual vs automatic vehicles.

Agree with OP to a degree...

My toys are manual.
My Corvette, back before I got into bikes, was a 6-speed. My bike is obviously a manual.

My daily however?
F150 SuperCrew. Nothing more relaxing than cruising along in my land-yacht, listening to some tunes, just enjoying the scenery.
And don't even get me started about highways and stop-n-go traffic. Just lol @ anyone doing the ole 1-2 back to 1 shift every 5 feet thinking they're alpha.

it’s really not.

Canyon runs require a lot of downshifting and braking and that’s the best part. You ever tried to drive an auto down a canyon road? It’s fuking terrible

People saying manuals are good for highway cruising. So when you’re basically in one gear, where it feels like an auto? Cause with no traffic I’m in 6th gear the whole way.

just lol the copium
Look, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me.
