It’s certainly not automatic and can be negotiated. She got the house that’s paid for and I kept the pension. That was the deal we made. I’ll take that deal every time.

These feelings you are having are very normal. The way I like to look at it is that you should be very happy when your ex moves on. Once that happens she is totally no longer your problem. The new guy has to deal with her crap. It's pretty freeing and now you can really forget about her and move on. If you can be civil about this there's a good chance it will put her in a better mood for the co-parenting part of your relationship and make her less bitter towards you.

Couples divorce because they're unhappy. Co-parenting gives them time to themselves to (hopefully) enjoy themselves, relax, and be re-energized for when it's their time with the kids again.

After my last ex 6 years ago I focused on everything that was toxic about her, everything that she'd do to be a ****ty gf, her being terrible in bed etc etc and after a few weeks she was a complete after thought (This is literally one of the first times I've thought about her since). Who cares if your ex-wife getting dinked down by some other guy? That's a fact of life, breh. The only thing that her choices in men have to do with you now, is if she ever decides to bring them into your children's lives. That's it.


Having said that, by all means, take the extra time with your kid(s) and enjoy it. They'll pick up on it if and taken note if it becomes apparent that their father (you) never makes excuses to bail on them during your time like worrying more about vacations and chit. Meanwhile their mother at times chooses to dump them off at times because she'd rather spend her time meeting up with new men rather than planning her bs personal life chit like that around the agreed upon custody arrangement in the divorce decree. They will absolutely remember that sort of chit as they grow up, and they will appreciate you being a good father for them.

Also, don't feel bad about asking your ex for a few bucks unless she legitimately does the same type of favors for you (though I would hope your reasons would be better than bs like vacationing alone with new women lol) on a close to equal basis. She'd easily be spending $200+ to have a halfway decent nanny/babysitter watch your kids for "a few days" during her time. The least she could do is throw you a few bucks for the extra cost in meals you'll be providing lol. Be cafeful about doing this of course, as women can and will weaponize your kid(s) against you if you piss them off. Just don't let yourself turn into a complete doormat for her and some new bloke, either.

Piece of paper saying you're "divorced" doesn't mean she isn't your property any more. That's not the way human brains work. She definitely understands it too and is trying to provoke you into doing something about it by mentioning it.

The $$$ part is usually pretty black & white once divorces are finalized. It may change if custody changes (ie you go from having the kids 25% of the time to 50%). There's a reason governments don't leave a lot of gray area when it comes to money as it would give exes another reason to fight w/ eachother until their kids were self-sufficient adults.

Be proactive in teaching your kids bro. Seen way too many divorced couples turn their children against the ex. Make sure they know not to just take anyone's word and to always judge for themselves (you don't have to criticize the mom, just give solid relevant advice), so she can't just fill their heads with BS about you.
