nothing worse than a poverty trust fund in a rich country

I was expecting a lot more as well when I turned 21, thinking now I should lawyer up as its screwed me up..

basically coasted through school knowing I had enough coming to live comfortably, come the day was barely 2 mill, which might sound ok but barely gets you a decent house in my area. Yeah I could live like a king in Bangladesh or Bristol or Leeds or something, but you need srs money in the home counties to be a somebody

if id got proper money id have been in RE with an empire of top spec properties by now, i have a real flare for it Im a whiz at design decor stuff. But nowhere near the cash for it or anything really

i know some people dont get trust funds, right now I feel id have better off without mine id have worked harder and used my connections, networking etc. Still jelly of people who inherit 9 figures and more. life aint fair

$2 million in some US cities might just get you a 1 bedroom and 4 other apartments in the same building. Then you would be a landlord. But you know in USA you can get some deadbeat moving in, they refuse to pay and it takes 2 years to evict their ass. Happening to many right now during Covid. So might just put stuff in stocks or another vehicle.

But yeah if we're talking about 1st tier cities like London, New York, Toronto or Sydney... $2 million barely gets you a 3 bedroom house in the core there. Yeah they got working class / white trash suburbs in those cities where the housing price is a bit better but good luck eating at Chilis or whatever trashy restaurant chain is in the neighborhood.

then you have to deal with tenants and collect rent, then they refuse to pay and push you down the stairs.

This happens on average once every week in NY, I'm not joking

You lived in LDN metro with a 2 mil trust fund? You can buy a good enough place for 300 some places.

Live off of 5% interest after, 75k, without bills, 100+/day.

More than enough in many cool areas.
