I really like the truly reformed penitent latin ex-gang members as in-class students or for tutoring. They are some of the most God-fearing, interested-in-topic, polite, respectful, and anxious to do well undergrad students I come across. There are a few of them in the CSU system and some in the UC system. The males love hearing about tattooed Japanese, Celtic and Scandinavian warriors and the females like hearing about tattooed ancient Japanese, Arab, and Sumerian/Babylonian females. They all like the Polynesian tattoo culture/mythos. I think it calms their nerves because of how they feel with the environment they are in, which is so foreign to them. So, hearing about ancient cultures and tattoos gives a small sense of self-confidence. I really like them and do feel so bad for them. They have to pretend not to see or feel the stares and contempt.

Tattoo removal is easy these days and quite the burgeoning industry. They could get them removed as a last resort.

It looks like a few of them have started the tattoo removal process. Yeah it’s easy but it’s extremely expensive and some of the tattoo inks used, especially outline ink, don’t totally disappear they discolor the whole area
