go on wikipedia, google it, do whatever you need to do... just educate yourself before you make snap judgment and end up looking like a fool.

Do you honestly think things happen for no reason?
There's literally a million reasons why the body would paralyze itself during sleep regardless of being an ape in a tree not wanting to fall down. I'm not saying the body doing it doesn't make sense, i'm saying the reason for it is laughable. Lets be honest, you're telling me to educate myself yet you probably read a sentence or two about it before you told me so. I've already looked into it

And you said it in a way to dismiss my thread even though sleep paralysis encompasses more than just being paralyzed.

And the force stopping me from moving and trying to wake up is just too much.

I wanna add to that I NEVER have nightmares. I love my dreams, they're always super interesting. I can also tell when I;m dreaming. Not lucid dreaming but I just know when a dream is a dream. But my sleep paralysis is always negative and always feels way too real.
+1

Part of lucid dreaming is picking up signs that you're dreaming as it's occurring and if you're a beginner as soon as you realize you're dreaming most times your entire consciousness will start going wild and everything in the dream will start falling apart, but if you remain calm you can bring the dream back and control it. During sleep paralysis the experience is concrete and you're basically prey.

Also I agree, after having a dream you can immediately tell it was just a dream.

I'd start pray loudly and aggressively, and it would help me wake up or fall asleep again quicker than earlier. Really weird stuff. Out of all the sleep paralysis I have had, none of them have been positive. Always creatures beside me, front of me, in the corner of the room, etc. as well as some times just feeling "them" pushing me and paralyzing my body (obviously due to the body being asleep).

It's so odd because at a young age, there is nothing that told me or showed me that sleep paralysis should be negative and scary, yet that is how it started

lol @ science some times

I've had tons of lucid dreams though, and they have always been positive and amazing.

I didn't mention it because I wanted to engage more miscers but a sleep paralysis episode ended immediately when I was a kid after I said 'Jesus help'. I was an atheist at the time and said it out of desperation lol. That made me question my entire world view

What you're saying is what I'm trying to get across to miscers, the explanation for sleep paralysis makes zero sense. It SHOULDN'T be negative every time

Also I think a big problem is that some people might recall themselves having an actual nightmare as a kid or something and correlate that with sleep paralysis. Once you experience sleep paralysis for real you won't be thinking to yourself 'wow that was a scary nightmare'. You'll literally feel like you just got visited by demons. - That doesn't mean you'll consciously think or say it was real, but your inner mind will be telling you it was real because of how insane and realistic the experience was. Contrast that to dreams, even the most lifelike vivid dreams where upon waking up you can immediately determine it was a dream.

I'm gonna guess that sleep paralysis is always negative because you can't fukking move when you try to.

i think sleep paralysis is somehow tied to sleep apnea.

i had it multiple multiple times in my life. never saw anything, just woke up paralyzed like everyone says. Ever since i got my CPAP its never happened again.

Anything that disturbs sleep contributes to sleep paralysis. 'Sleep paralysis' in the sense of your body being paralyzed is a normal function of sleep

I have sleep paralysis multiple times a month and as a kid it was damn near daily. 95% of it was negative. I never once did see something negative but I always had a sense of dread or that something was watching me that I could not see since I could not move. When I was a kid I would always run to my grandparents or parents room when it happened (parents deployed to Iraq in the 90s) and cried, a few times I was so terrified I would hide under the blankets and pee myself because I was afraid to look around. After some time I started to get used to it and if I noticed it setting in I would start lashing out in anger at whatever I felt was there.
Now I know to just wiggle my toes if I don't want to deal with it. I can use it to lucid dream if I really put some effort into it.

I also noticed that I get it really bad when I fall asleep in a car. I can hear everything going on around me but cant move at all.

I've had sleep paralysis several times. It's terrifying every time, but I've only seen weird chit twice. In both instances it was aliens around my bed srs lol.

However, one of the weirdest experiences was one time that I was actually awake and having trouble going to sleep because of insomnia. I suddenly become paralyzed and felt my body completely shut down. Music playing in the other room slowed down and got really low pitched. My eyesight faded slowly as well. It was really strange, it felt like I was shutting down like a computer or something.

Haven't had those. But I've experienced deja vu quite a few times. I rarely remember my dreams. But I feel like I sometimes dream an experience before it happened. Nothing important/relevant. Just random bits and pieces. Arriving at a location and greeting a friend/someone there when it wasn't expected/planned, etc.

I'm a cop. A realist. I typically don't believe in anything paranormal. But its strange as fukk when something happens and then you can vividly remember dreaming that exact thing previously. And even as your experiencing it, its like wtf I dreamed this. But the crazy thing is, the dream/thought was no-where in mind until after it happened/I experience it IRL. Then its just the memory.

I've never told anyone IRL about it. Because for the most part I'm logical and don't believe in paranormal stuff.

I really would love the ability to learn how to control it/experience it at will though.

Same exp. That's started for me in my teen and in my mid 20's at the very moment when i was "quitting" alcoholmax and started to vome into religion, sleep paralysis was more and more frequent.

Yes, semi dreaming. Sleep paralysis is when you wake up during the dream phase. Sounds like semi dreaming to me. I'm a pseudointellectual, but you're saying it's demons... Got it. If the scientific community doesn't have a concrete answer for something, and you say it demons, then let's just both be wrong. No need to be an a$$hole.

Same thing happened to me. I woke up and couldn't move. I didn't see anything "evil" but I felt this awful presence near me and could swear I could hear something.

When I finally was able to move I puled the covers over my face and pretended nothing happened.

Had my first experience with sleep paralysis a few weeks ago but luckily it was only for a few seconds before my body jolted out of it

Even though it was a brief experience the creature had the most distorted face and horrifying voice I dont even know how to describe (srs)

Dont know how some people deal with it on a regular basis, I would lose my fukin sanity

I had sleep paralysis 100s of times in my 20s. The experiences were always similar. Shadow figure on my chest pressing down, trying to drag me out of my bed by my legs, standing in the corner faceless, weird sounds and that feeling of pure dread that I've never experienced in any other circumstances. I did learn to counter it somewhat at times, which is when I began to understand what astral projection was (this was before I ever actually read about this chit). First time I experienced this I felt myself rise from my bed and begin to move out my bedroom window. I was able to see certain cars on the street and objects in specific places. I assumed this was a dream, but when I looked outside everything was in the same place I saw in this "dream".

In my early 20s I hammered stims alot, leaving me shot for serotonin, something I believe is linked to this experience. I used a drugs forum back then also, and the amount of people I seen posting about sleep paralysis was shocking. Whats the odds other stim junkies were also experiencing "demons" lol? I've no explanation for it one way or the other, but I'm glad as fuk I don't get it anymore.

Anyone experienced the "own hand wrapped around your throat so you can't breath, and you can't manage to remove it with your other hand" sleep paralysis?

It's legit the worst one I have had. Will never forget it

If you write in a demeaning manner after not having read the post i'll respond the same way.

Again, 'semi dreaming' makes zero sense. You're just saying things that have been said without taking any seconds to contemplate the consequences of what you're implying. If it's a semi dream then why is the experience so concrete? Normal dreams are erratic and aren't just one certain setting. The 'hallucinations' shouldn't consist entirely of negative beings and negative experiences. This is proved even further by those that experience it frequently and know to control emotions/thoughts preemptively, yet the scenario remains

Saying it's demons isn't far fetched at all. It's not like I'm saying thunder is Gods farts, the experience is literally 'demonic' in nature. I'm open to other interpretations but if you say the same thing without reading the post i'm not going to put effort into my reply

Yeah, the image I saw was so disgusting and horrifying I can't even picture it in my own mind anymore. No picture/painting/drawing/movie can come close. Otherworldly

Astral projection is for real. There used to be a document hosted on the CIA website about the US military funding astral projection research and how they tried using it in operations. I bet it goes beyond that

Something extremely strange in a dream I can report

In lucid dreams you're essentially inside your own consciousness and can ask a dream character questions and your subconscious will reply back, it's fun to do and is really weird. If you say something like 'what's 5021 x 1821' You'll get a nonsensical answer unless you're actually capable of solving that problem relatively quickly, however one time I had a normal dream where someone told me something that I had ZERO awareness of and no way of knowing and when I woke up the thing was actually true. I can't even remember what it was because it was so long ago but it still trips me out.

Might have been that you actually knew of that thing subconsciously, buried deep down, but you had totally forgotten it, and even forgotten the event in which you heard/saw/learned said thing? Maybe saw it but never thought about it for example, yet your brain somehow captured the moment

Perhaps during SP you're in a heightened spiritual state which makes you 'sense' evil spirits? Sounds crazy AF but it makes sense given my experiences.

Sleep paralysis induced LD is actually the hardest method to learn and whenever I tried it I would always start feeling disturbing presences whenever I got close to achieving it
It was frustrating because even when totally lucid, I couldn't affect the world around me, fly, or anything like that. I tended to "wake up" in places I was very familiar with and within a few minutes walk from where I was actually sleeping.

I would cycle through SP, LD, then wake up in my bed not paralyzed thinking I was awake, only to realize I was dreaming again. Felt like it would go on for hours some nights.

This was all preceded by the first time I experienced sleep paralysis. Long story short, I heard something break down my front door, come up the stairs to my bedroom and rush towards me through the door. After that when I experienced SP I felt a presence in the room similar to other people's stories, something in the darkness or just out of my periphery.

Are you sure what you're sensing is evil though? Being completely vulnerable to the unknown, I think our minds tend to assume the worst. Especially if it's something that has intentions we can't understand.

It's possible. I've had what you describe happen a few times, like remembering a birthday in a dream that I couldn't remember in waking life if I tried, but somehow came to me in my dream through my subconscious. You can experiment with that in lucid dreams too. This experience was really weird though, it had something to do with an appliance that I hadn't even used before.

Have had this happen so many times

Definitely not as bad as SP but it's still unnerving to keep "waking up" over and over only to be trapped inside a dream world

I have it weekly. I "wake up" in my room except everything is blurry. I feel like I can barely breathe. Usually I hear a roaring noise. I have recorded myself in an episode and my eyes were closed lol. Still not sure if they are open or closed though. I swear it always looks like how my room actually is. Like I will see a chair that was moved into my field of vision from my bed only that day in the dream. SO IDK if my eyes are really open or I'm just dreaming they are. But also I had it happen when I had the TV on and I could hear the TV while I was paralyzed.

I have gotten used to it so it isn't a traumatizing experience but I still have trouble accepting it instead of trying to wake myself up. Protip, if you just try to "go to sleep" on it, it will turn into a lucid dream and you can bang prime megan fox. It's so hard though because you feel like you are suffocating/dying.

Another protip, if you do wake yourself up, make sure you get out of bed and walk around for a minute. If you go right back to sleep, you will fall back into paralysis. Usually I will be too tired and just go back to sleep and repeat this whole process like 10 times before finally getting up. It's not fun.

I get sleep paralysis 2-6 times a year. And if you get em you don’t care if it’s scientific or not. They are horrifying and it makes seem 100% real.
