Yeah that's challenging.

I can handle a lot of things but I can't handle someone who complains constantly. Thankfully my mother in law is pretty chill so far, she comes from a eastern euro culture where they always like cater to the man though so I think that helps. When she comes to our house she will do things how we do them, when we go there she still tries to change some things she knows we don't particularly like. I would go mad if I was in your situation, sorry not much help.

Marrying into class is such important advice. You're doomed if you marry low classes.

Jesus Christ man. You gotta tell your wife what’s up. Your mother in law sounds straight up from hell. This is unhealthy amount of time to be spending together in your house. She seems young and is there to “help” you, but sounds like she’s just there to ruin your marriage. If she must stay, she needs to play by your rules.

The ****ty part is, my wife the exact opposite of the way misc describes girls, shes perfect. She has values, shes smart, etc. But she's blinded when it comes to her mom. I've had multiple conversations with her, some good some bad. Her mom now does her own dishes (90% of the time, the bare minimum for a human being in someone else's house IMO), but I had a conversation with her that i dont want her mom feeding our son processed garbage everyday (disclaimer: if he ate mcdonalds once a month or **** once every 2 weeks no problem), but she was feeding him velveeta shells, microwaved rice packets, and a bunch of other weird stuff, and i had a conversation with my wife and said look, i know it might not be easy, let me just feed kaiden, i dont want him eating all this processed food every single day. She said okay. I come home from lowes and shes laughing about how our son is sucking butter off the crackers my mother in law is giving her...so i semi lost it. I had a conversation about somewhat normal eating habits and then that happened. Her defense was she didn't think it was that bad

2 days later we're out to eat with my whole family and my son has a quesadilla and french fries. Dude's just pounding fries not messing with the "dilla and my mother and law and wife keep giving him fries after hes eaten his own and I politely said "don't give him more fries until he eats some of his quesadilla. MIL flips a lid and yells in spanish "NOTHING HAPPENED "I ATE FRIES AND IM NORMAL" - spoiler alert she doesnt eat egg yolks, red meat, mushrooms, seafood, oatmeal, fat on chicken, and about 100 different things - most of which she blames on either her parents or her school for making her eat stuff -despite the fact that she's almost 50 and only eats chicken and mac and cheese

That's what you get when you marry someone with family from an underdeveloped/poor country. The cultural differences, constant nagging, begging for money, etc will slowly kill you inside out.

Just lmao at miscers who say they will marry some poor girl from south america, south east asia, etc when they are 40. Just know you will be marrying her entire family as well. She will always choose her family over you.

Start moving your money and assets into a safe and untouchable place before the inevitable divorce happens. If she hasn't asked for money yet, know that it is coming.

What do you expect she's her mother. Would you throw your mother under the bus for a sloot? Sounds like she is still young. Just wait until she quits her job because she wants to "spend more time around the house with the kids".

You are going to end up financially supporting the entire family plus her mom ontop of doing all the house chores. It won't happen over night but slowly one by one the dominoes will fall.

You are already half way there. Just listen to yourself. You drive to home depot and sit in the parking lot just to get away.

I have and that's what most of you guy's dont understand. I have layed down the law. Several times, and at heart she agrees, but when I get mad she gets mad because it's her mom.

I guess it's different because when my dad acts like an ******* i tell her and apologize, she apologizes to an extent, but again, she didn't have a dad and her mom had her when she was 18 so she's like a big sister not a mom. While she knows her mom is a worthless complaining sack of ****, she doesn't want me to complain about it....

My MIL moved in for a month while her kitchen / baths got rehabbed. She was the opposite but just as annoying. Trying to chill and she would be cleaning the baseboards / window sills. She is negative as fuk tho (we make the whomp whomp noise from the Debbie Downer SNL bit when she lays out a real buzzkill) and will literally complain about anything and everything. She was bitching about a ****ing beef tenderloin dinner. I stopped her and asked is there anything about it that you DO like? And she said “it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had.” Why you complaining then?!?!?

I just said fuk it one day and decided I was going to become her best friend. Took her out to lunch, talked to her, asked her some questions about when she was younger. Once she opened up she became a different person to be around. Buy that old bitch some Chanel N°5 and tell her to promise you that she will wear everyday and not save it for special occasions - she’ll feel special getting that gift and won’t even want to rub that poverty oil all over herself anymore.

You’ve got a month left - crack that egg.

yes she's her mother, but she knows her mother is lazy and messy.

And no i won't, my wife is a doctor. If anything the worst case scenario is i get stuck at home taking care of the family in a Mr dad type scenario (or whatever that movie was)

My wife is awesome, she's actually a 1%er. She's beautiful smart, not a sloot, only social media is pics of nature, she's awesome. Just need my mother in law to go back to puerto rico. By my calculations im about 64 margaritas away

non-married brahs won't understand

Parents are a touchy subject. You're not going to jeopardize your entire relationship over wife acting irrationally/having a soft spot for their own retarded parents. While you can do your best to make your point known, it is a fine line. Any decent person is going to want to show that they care about their in-laws.

It's just a shtty situation all around as the MIL doesn't seem to give a fk about how much of an incovenience she is causing, but there is little that OP can do without making his life even more difficult. The MIL isn't going away no matter how pissed OP gets, so what is worse? Arguing with your otherwise awesome wife, while you still have to deal with your annoying ass MIL as well? Or not arguing with your wife and having to deal with her.

Definitely do want to get her to see your side though at least, if she can't I'd be pretty pissed. As she can at least 'put MIL in her place' when she oversteps, where you can't.

This reaction means when your wife is having conversations with her about your concerns, she is framing it as you having a problem with the MIL. There is no "we" in those discussions and your son's well being is not even mentioned. Her mother interprets that to mean that you are the enemy of both of them- a small man and an oppressor.

Doctor or not, that is some serious low class trash behavior from your wife. She threw loyalty out the window to avoid the slightest confrontation.

While i can relate to some extent, you don't understand this woman doesn't like anything. She'll have a normal plate in front of her and pick different pieces of food off (chicken fat, crispy vegetables, whatever) and have a plate left that looks like a 5 year olds. Ive been with my girl for 4 years and I've made her food, and tried to make her food i think she'll like so many times. Maybe 5 times she likes it, the other 90 she tears it apart and eats half of everything and the other 5 won't eat anything because i cooked seafood in the house, or i left the skins on the zuchinni, or she doesn't eat pork (despite her eating an italian sandwich from walmart yesterday. srs)

I agree 100% and this is the reason I'm angry.

After my MIL yelled at my in front of everyone, she looked at me and goes "I told you this was going to happen"

again, she is so much more down to earth than any girl i've ever met, but her biggest weakness is she's blinded by her mom (big sister). When that outbreak happened she said "you don't think that happened to me growing up?" I respect her because she's not like that at all, but i don't see how she doesn't see how crazy her mom is. She always tells me she hates when people make a scene, her mom made a huge scene and she blames me - again the problem is you cant break up a mom from a daughter. Especially one that didn't have a dad

so i just need to margarita it for another month

That is kind of messed. One thing I would worry about is if you let it bottle up, especially with drinking and one day explode all this effort in being a decent guy and how much you put up with will be for naught.

Might be best just to rip the bandaid off and somehow come up with a reasonable compromise/solution for this even if it has to come from a minor argument. Would be a smaller argument than what could potentially be permanent damage if the above happens.

Good luck dude, situation fukking sucks, exact reason I am so against my wifes idea of having her in laws stay with us while they come for long stays etc. Recipe for disaster. I wouldn't even want my own parents living with me for 1+ months. I'd pull my fuking hair out.

Doctor or not, that is some serious low class trash behavior from your wife. She threw loyalty out the window to avoid the slightest confrontation.
No, women do not think linearly enough to protect their ego this smoothly. The problem comes from thinking some lower class moron woman ought to supersede your decisions regarding your son. Purely a social ego competition.

When my mother in law comes she frequently overatays her welcome. Clears her throat so loud the neighbour's can hear. Doesn't clean up etc.

I hide in my man cave and only emerge to bring food or booze down for refill.

Do you have anywhere in the house you can hide out?

You're doing this while thing wrong. You need to fight fire with fire. Pre-emptively nag her before she starts nagging you. Don't get mad, have her get mad and look like a fool in front of everyone. Call her out for every little thing she does wrong, but do it in the way you would a child. She'll be gone in 2 weeks.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Thanks man, you're right. I've tried to have conversations, some have proven productive, some have been a complete waste of time. Tried to tell her today I think we need to communicate better (she bought a bunch of chit four our sons birthday when i wasn't planning on it for another 5 days - no conversation), she said she told me she was going to costco and i was supposed to know.

one hour later her moms sitting and the kitchen and they're talking in spanish about napkins, plates, etc. to buy for the party, and i tell her hey, i don't have a problem, but this is my point you're not communicating with me right now you don't realize it because you're substituting your mom for me and not thinking about it, but ya'll are making decisions and i dont know whats happening. And not to be a ****, but this is happening on a micro level everywhere else. They know i understand spanish, but still they make deals/plans without me.

And i think the worst part is my MIL can't be left alone. So for 3 months I haven't had breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a trip to lowes with my wife with just the two of us. I told her a month ago this isn't healthy and still waiting for 1 day where we have alone time. We're fighting all the time, and i keep trying to tell her this current situation isn't healthy
