what kind of jobs did your MIL have with that shytty temperament and low IQ? she sounds like someone who can't hold down a job.
The training is nothing, the will is everything. The will to act.

I started out guns blazing. Went south Quick. Now i ignore everything and hide.

Used to complain - dirty dish "what's so hard about cleaning up after yourself an 8 year old can do this"
Shoes left in the middler of the floor "who does this"
food sitting out on the stove all day "i'm throwing this away in 1 hour"

not to be a dick, but because for me the basic signs of respect fall in those lines. My wife, while agreed her mom was a disaster didn't like my attitude. Apparently I need to respect her (I was taught respect was earned not give, but i guess when its your wife its given not earned).

Don't remember her job 2 years ago (very low paying), then the costco samples girl before being laid off (srs) - since has been enjoying unemployment and has no intentions of getting another job.

Can't wait till that runs out. Makes me sick (srs)

not communication. It's fate, dude. You cannot fight the social current of their b.s. You need to marry into the class you want, or this kind of b.s. will take over unless you're single.

wow that sounds amazing. My MIL can't do anything. When my son goes outside with her i literally have to supervise both of them. If i don't she'll let my son pull leaves off my plants, throw dirt, whatever. I told my wife, i literally have 2 todlers.

Respect and jealous. Only solace i can take is my mom is a principal and retires in august so hopefully we can utilize her soon, and my MIL goes back to PR for at least a year once her unemployment dries up

woa woa woa, what's wrong with the name Kaiden?

My son could probably kick your ass (pretty srs), been teaching him how to wrestle

Obviously she's the sane one for not believing in covid, and then later claiming it was my wifes fault for getting covid and she deserved it for working instead of just going on unemployment.

you're right

I think you need to 100% start with the fact that you guys NEED one or two nights out a week to yourselves, no MIL. That is completely fair to ask, at least you can get a chance to enjoy eachothers company without it being attached to an annoying ass MIL. Might make things bearable, or act as sort of a refresher you need to remind you you're on the same page at least.

Her behaviour is why she was a single mother.
She resents you because she isn't able to form relationships. She is jealous of her daughter and this is her way of getting back at the world. Srs

don't think im better than her at all and I know for a fact my wife doesnt. I'm not expecting anything other than her to clean her dishes when she makes her own food. I make breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and do all the dishes.

Asking her to do her own dishes when she eats by herself means i think im better than her?

Fuuarkk unique thread for sure, haven't heard this one before.

Sounds like shes waaaay to comfortable in your home. She has to understand that she is a GUEST. But I'm sure this has already been said ITT. In my way younger years I used to see lots of fights my parents had over this exact issue.

Reps cause feeling sorry for your a$$. That **** must suck.

My mom-in-law is the opposite. Whenever she visits, she’s wanting to cook, do the dishes, and clean up our place. I have to tell her to relax. She also treats me great, and tells my wife to treat me better, cook healthier foods, let me rest up more, and to take better care of me. I try to help out around the house and with the kids as much as I can, which is complete opposite of my dad-in-law, who does no housework. Mom-in-law thinks I’m a saint.

So the Indian dude who works next to me bought his first apartment last year, moved in with his wife, parents-in-law came to stay and BAM! covid. Ended up staying for about 10 months, LMAO. Two months of that, everything was closed so they couldn't even go anywhere.

enjoy it bro. Thats how my wifes aunt is. Everyone in her family either has decent money or good values. Very unfortunate situation for sure. I definitely don't care about money, but leaving a mess after yourself every day and showing no effort to help after i cook every day is frustating.

I think you need to decide what your absolute red-lines are with this woman.

I would suggest that you have the absolute right to get the fuk out of the house on your own for a full day once a week while she is around or you get a day with your wife alone once a week.

The other one is parenting. Your son your rules, none of this feeding him fries when you tell her not to BS.

Totally get that you have to compromise with parents, but there's also a certain types of nonsense you have to fight.

Stand up to them and give your wife and mother an ultimatum. Tell her there is a time limit for her to remain in your honey and she must leave.

agreed 100%. My thing is, I'll wash her dishes (not going to be happy about it), but for me the biggest thing is, this is my son. My rules. She followed into place after the incident, but still. (she said you need to eat what mammy and daddy say), but she never apologized to me for the event. So i've been completely ignoring her. Probably childish, but still. I need to make a point

Fuk my father in law is like that, but really really really mean and demeaning to me. He’s super controlling too, like if he is over which is often cause he can’t stay alone all the time, he’ll say we waste water by doing the laundry and we have a well. Then he says he’ll say he’s going to save himself money by taking the water out of the washer and water the plants, when he doesn’t pay the bills or even lives there. Then he’ll yell at me for not using a pot he boiled veggies in that’s dirty to cook with, so we don’t use another pan for something like eggs that can’t be cooked in a pot cause it’s going to stick -.- and I can’t say anything

Your mother in law sounds like a total delinquent. How did she raise your wife to be such high functioning and successful? What kind of doctor is your wife?
