I am a loser by society's standards, it takes me about 30 hours of effort to get a date with a girl that I find barely attractive, at which point I have a 10% success rate of progressing further. Marriage in my opinion has completely jumped the shark from what it should be. In older times it was a way for two families to share resources and help each other out, maybe benefitting from a larger group to do things like run businesses or farm land. It was a contract between people to start a family for the benefit of everyone.
