The only times I could see these lines being blurred is during COVID, otherwise it's pretty obvious.

Another somewhat similar example would be the beta bitchboy orbiter who hangs around a pretty girl constantly, never making a move, putting himself in the friendzone, hoping that one day she will have an epiphany and realize how much she loves him. Except that's not how women are, so you're just barking up the wrong tree. Again, a case of being dumb and naive.
