Are Nurses Smart?

All the work seems to require low-level intelligence and they just churn through it. When they fuk it up they say an excuse like they’re overworked saving lives.

I’m sure it’s a stressful job but nothing seems complicated or in need of an education.

They’re just walking secretaries that have to give a listening ear to a patient every now and then.



Am I missing something?

I’m truly perplexed why I’m supposed to be more grateful to nurses than the guy at Popeye’s working the register.

Nurses are a strange breed. I've known some very intelligent women who became nurses and said that nursing school was really hard. I would believe them but I also know some women who are borderline retarded that managed to graduate nursing school too. I think the smart just don't want everyone to know how easy it is

I know this is anecdote and n=1

But I had the most retarded nurse ever this one time. Am not a big fan of needles to begin with, but when trying to inject me with a saline solution, she missed my vein like 4 times lmao. was tempted to grab the needle from her and inject it myself srs. so I was pretty much left with a bunch of bandaids from the jabs lmao. A doctor had to come in and do the jab for her.

I honestly kinda felt bad and embarrassed for the nurse because she was a 7/10 (srs); was nice and apologetic the whole time and she was trying so hard to get it right and not fuk up. Wasn't even mad, I was just thinking "wtf this is ridiculous" the whole time in my head. Needless to say my whole arm was sore for a few days, but that was it.

Nurses are kinda like accountants. It’s a “good” job and you can’t be stupid but chances are you aren’t exceptionally smart. Although there are some people who are high performers or in a specialized field that you can consider smart. The average one though, I wouldn’t say so.

of course they're smart. they have to mesmerize like 300 different veins for a test. Nurse schooling is incredibly hard. They can still be dumb bishes when it comes to real life stuff but book smart yes

This. They’re very book smart and that’s a good thing because of those crazy setups that they can put together under incredible stress. We laugh because they call themselves heroes and the like but they’re very essential, and if they want to blow off steam by blowing me then we should let them.
