Sounds like it snuck up on ya.

Drinking Vieux Carre's with WT 101 Rye. Mental note, very small touch of Benedictine. Chit can easily over power a drink.

You sound like me. I dont really feel a ton unless im by myself, doing nothing else, or im absolutely hammered. When im alone, i have about 1-2 and can definitely feel it.

Picked this stuff up at a local place. The maple isnt as pronounced as you would think. Nicely sweet.

Guys...I discovered that this exists over the weekend and obviously had to share in here. LG has a refrigerator out with a second ice maker in the freezer that makes clear ice spheres.

went to the Black Dirt Distillery in Warwick NY over the weekend. Very fun place to visit. Great merch/gift shop. Wine and other spirits as well.

picked up the 5 year single barrel, at 58% ABV. strong and tasty. also enjoyed their rye via a sample. did not really like their regular lower-proof bourbon much, a little too much corn for me. you don't notice the corn as much in the single barrel, not sure if the mash bill is any different. the extra horsepower to it probably hides some of the corn taste.

anyways. strong recommend for any whiskey fan in the NY state area.

Buddy of mine was clearing out some of his stuff he wasnt drinking. Ended up scoring about half a bottle of each for $110

Glenfiddich 14 (bourbon barrel aged)
Glenlivet 15 French Oak Reserve (actually 2 bottles of this that are just shy of 50% full each)
Jura Origin 10 year
About 5 ounces of Johnny Blue
About 5 ounces of Balvenie 14 Rum cask (the last two he wanted to keep the bottles)

Just picked up a bottle of Eagle Rare.

After a few pours, this is my new favourite bourbon to drink neat.

Went to one of big box liquor stores yesterday. They had 2 bottles of RedBreast 27. If I didn't have to pay for movers this weekend, one of those bottles would be in my possession. The restraint was real.

Picked up something new (to me), $29 here in Central Ohio.

Pretty good nose, smells like wood. Tastes like charred, smoky honey. I dig it, a little break from my usual sweet wheater pours.

I picked up a bottle of Longbranch this week. Normally I shy away from gimmicky "flavored" bourbons like this but I'm very glad I gave this a shot.

It's mesquite but not smokey. In fact, I pick up more banana and orange than smoke flavor. What smokey notes do exist only come at the end after you've swallowed and had a moment to consider what you're experiencing.

Definitely worth looking into!

Longbranch is one of my favorites to have with food. Low proof and enjoyable, easy to eat with. the higher proofs i love before dinner but not during, it all becomes too much for me.

Longbranch is also a great beginner's whiskey although it isn't cheap in my area. beautiful bottle too.

I think I paid $34 or $37 here in Central Ohio. You are right, it's light enough that it probably goes well with a meal.

My all time favorite thing to snack on while sipping whiskies is chocolate chip granola bars, but I'll have to try it with a full meal some time.

most of my stuff at the house is not meal friendly but i've kinda over-stocked on higher proofs. when i'm out with my buddies having wings or something i want a longbranch-type that won't overwhelm me while eating.

there's a lot of whiskey-friendly snacks out there. pickled stuff especially. i was skeptical at first but tried a mix of pickled cauliflower, beets, onions and it was perfect to go with.

Don't have the whole collection in there, but just finished this thing up. We call it the "alcohutch"

Currently in there....

In the cabinet, I've got a Glenlivet 14 year and some Johnny Walker Red & Black, a few different Tequilas, Vodkas and a few other scotches that aren't great. lol

Everyone says its garbage and it takes over 24 hours to create 1-2 balls? Also, you cannot use regular ice maker while its creating the balls.

Also also, LG products usually dont last long. Check BBB and Consumer Reports.

Curious on price? In Virginia it goes for retail which was 380-ish or something like that.

All you brahs wanting clear cubes, been using this for about 4-5 months now. First batch was a little cloudy cause you gotta time it right due to your freezers temp......now I always have 20+ cubes on hand.

My new set up. Downgraded and sold my collection with around 76 bottles. Figured out a lot of what I like and don't. I'm still staying away from most allocated items unless its retail.

I have an LG refrigerator now and it's fine. In fact, this new refrigerator looks like it's basically the exact same thing with an additional ice maker in the freezer. I've had this thing since 2012 and the only problem I've ever had is about a month ago the spring in the door flapper broke. Maybe I was just lucky, but I wouldn't be concerned with picking up another LG based off of my own experiences.

The spheres do take longer to make. I think they advertise 2-3 per day. If you want them every day then yeah, that may be a problem. But for me, having around 10 by the weekend should be plenty.

I hadn't heard about not using the regular ice maker when it's making balls though. That seems strange if true, since I think they're 2 separate makers.

I posted about it on a whiskey ******** group after seeing the youtube video from LG........just mirroring the sentiments from that post. Even a few hvac guys posted in there saying they make crazy money off LG's because they're that bad. I don't have any prior experience. The comment about the regular ice maker being delayed, someone said they wanted to buy that fridge and after going to a few stores and asking around that was the consensus.

I love the concept, and if they can someday make it programmable to choose which shapes you want.......hnnnng Sonic ice all day eury day......I would pay top dollar for that.

Interesting. Was actually considering picking one up soon, but may need to do a little more reading on it.

One of my friend's parents have counter top ice maker that makes that sonic style ice. Thing is like $600 though I think.
