BBers are not athletes.
You’re not an athlete if you workout.
You can be an athlete who happens to like/be good at working out.
But simply working out or being pro BBer doesn’t make you an athlete.

Well it's all about definitions.
Technically darts players are 'athletes' lol.
But no i'd agree, in the typical sense they are not athletes.

There is a reason why most pro bb'ers are sub 5'8
And it's not because they have more thick solid tight insertions/muscle bellies as is lead to believe

Flatmate is trying for pro card. Always lol at him when he says sport and athletes.
Literally the tightest, most awkward moving person I know, always at physio for issues.

BBing is basically a pageant. They are contestants at most.

Jumped on the good stuff this year, used to compete in waikatos. Was planning on hitting some shows in Vegas before covid happened.

I'll raise you one, just because you're an athlete doesn't mean you're strong. You think basketball players could work 32 hours straight on some pipelining rigs? Those motherfukkers are real men, they get ****ing jacked, wish I had the balls to do that ****.

I turned pro last year (in natty fed) and I'm telling you, it's pointless. 0 to 1 shows per year and if you want more you have to travel overseas. Also gotta pay to maintain the status. F that.

Majority can’t walk up the stairs without wheezing after 20 seconds. There are exceptions, of course, but most bodybuilders who only lift are not athletic.

I think the kool-aid is catching up. He's just started thinking about other things beyond lifting. He devotes every waking minute to it and has fallen behind in his apprenteship, I hear him on the phone to prospective dates and it's "I just train really".
He is sponsored by a couple of places and started on the podcast circuit but his eloquence with speaking and posting isn't really great so I think it's unlikely to be a long term gig.
I've been trying to convince him to think about life after BB because you don't want to reach your goal and go "is that it?". At the moment all he's come out with is powerlifting. Lol.
