I deleted IG and it's amazing...

How much time I was actually dedicating to the app. You don't even realize you're doing it...Just scrolling and scrolling while the time passes by.

I deleted mine last year, but just remade it a few weeks ago. Before I even added anyone my feed was already full of thirst traps lol.

Now I only open the app to check my feed from friends.

Self control >> deleting things.

It's an addiction just like anything else. If you find yourself always on it and can't go a day without checking then deleting might be the best option. You had an addictive personality though so hopefully your addiction moves on to something healthy.

I narrowed my IG followers down a lot. I don't look at anything political or any insta thots or anything like that. I just go on sometimes to find funny memes to share with friends or share my photography.

IG is good if you know how to curate and I'd argue that it's much easier to select what you view on there than ********.

My IG is landscapes, interior design, art, food, and style. Some memes also.

No thots, no political arguments or hearing everyone's ****ing opinion. A much better social media experience.

I've found it the most useful for travel destinations based on photos, some design aspects for homes, photography in general is pretty great on IG, memes are great. Sloots slooting is pretty fukin annoying, yet hilarious/sad.

Overall, it can be a time sink for sure tho. It's the only social media app I really use. If you're going to use one, it might be the best one.

I'll admit that it can be a great resource, but once you're stuck in a certain algorithm that chit just stays there. I followed some really cool 3D printing, photography pages, but the rest was just sl00ts and sports and that chit gets old.

That's where I should have kept it. I started out in IG posting my photography, and then ventured off into the thotisphere. It just got mad annoying.

Instagram is a valuable tool, especially when traveling. I only spend a handful of minutes per day on it, but when traveling and meeting people it's the difference between being super social and not social at all.

Honestly I wish I would have embraced it earlier when it was new.

I've heard instagram and other social media work like a slot machine

trying to open the app, look at your likes and comments, scrolling in anticipation of an exciting post, etc. all works like a slot machine making you want to keep scrolling mindlessly for pleasure

Agreed. But JFL at thinking you can override billions of dollars of R&D from this generation's brightest minds working OT to keep you hooked on you fukkin phone.

Self control/Willpower depletes in connection to the energy it takes to exert it. Remember that.

So if you have to use insane amount will power to control your social media habits, you are in fact better off just deleting them.

I advocate getting rid of your smartphone altogether if possible. Ded fkn srs
