Spoiler!
8. "Flag in Exile" (1995)- Honor Harrington #5 - by David Weber (Audiobook) *Military Sci-fi*
-----------------
I found this woman, Honor Harrington is the easiest character to identify with for me because her code of honor is exactly what I have been trying to live by. *Please note that I said, trying.
The funniest thing is, every time someone recognize her action in the book I feel a tremendous proud of her, couldn't help, even though I know this is a fiction and she is a fictional character.
And the author who created this character is a man.
I wonder does this make me a gay? (I've just found out she was 188 centimeters tall, physically formidable woman because of Sphinx, her home planet's heavy gravity.
Which also reminds me of 60s Sci-fi "Starwolfseries", the classic, novels byEdmond Hamilton, a hero raised by space pirates, a heavier-than-Earth-normal world of Viking-like aliens....)
Ahem, anyway the stories were about her character strength not physical one.

Currently Reading:
"Honor Among Enemies" (1996)- Honor Harrington #6 - by David Weber (Audiobook) *Military Sci-fi*

Started the year by reading a few books about some of the happenings of WWII in Norway.
Hemmelig agent i Norge by Dag Christensen (Secret agent in Norway) - Norway's most highly decorated WWII soldier, a secret agent (title of another book published in 2004 which I haven't read).
En spion går i land by Dag Christensen (A spy goes ashore) - A key asset of the brits secret intelligence service that was stationed on the north shores of Norway living in caves, radioing in observations of fleet maneuvers made by the germans.
Operatøren by Svein Sæter and Knut Haugland (The operator) - Knut Haugland, a member of the Kon Tiki-expedition was also an agent in Norway living under cover till he got burned and escaped by the skin of his teeth shooting his way out of a gestapo raid.
Then I went through Nevernight and Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff which were quite decent fantasy books.
I have quite a few books I have started listening to, but which I haven't felt like continuing.
Been listening to quite a few podcasts and gaming way too much.

Maybe you're thinking about the fortresses that Hitler got built up around the coastlines, especially in Norway (Festung Norwegen:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festung_Norwegenor the Atlantic Wall:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_Wall).

Just two complaints,
1) Every book, people die, each side, in more than a squadron scale total destruction. Over a few dozens of thousands of casualties.
2) Every book, the characters, especially the ones grown on me/readers instantly die, with a few exceptions, both good guys and bad guys.
IMO, less total destruction of warships with more survival rate helps to create more human dramas/interactions in the future.

How I Built This - Guy Raz
-Phenomenal book on Entrepreneurship. It really goes through several parts of the process including many of the common roadblocks big companies had to face before finally breaking through. As far as information and knowledge goes, its probably the best book I have read to date.
Rewire Your Mindset - Brian Keane
-It was a decent read. After listening to 10X by Cardone and Subtle Art by Manson, it kind of just falls in the line of those books.
Audiobook - The 5AM Club - Robin Sharma
-Loved listening to this while running. It is a pretty standard lesson in this book about maximizing a morning routine for the best day, but one that cannot go overlooked. I will be listening to this over and over again more than likely.

Got done finishing this book and as the title says it's a good beginner book to get the feet wet in knowing about real estate. Gives you a lot of routes to take, strategies, who to have on your team, such as an agent, attorney, contractor, etc. Stuff like 203k loans which made more sense reading it in this book and 1031 tax strategies. It aint the end all be all tho. If You're looking for investment properties their rental property investing book by bigger pockets if more up yo alley(which i have, i'll likely get to it this year)

Just crushed cradle book 9? Bloodline. Decent page Turner like the other books but disappointed in the lack of power progression and the lack of the plot moving forward. 3.5/5.
Ultimate battle for the valley reminded me of the z fighter's versus vegeta in monkey form which was cool.

the part where he felt suicidal and depressed, locked up in prison. but then meets abbe, who completely changes his entire mindset. the positivity, the hope you get from reading it. it's just amazing. it's like the shawshank redemption vibes. it gives you hope. which is what makes this book really stand out imo. it makes you feel something. and it's just written greatly.

So the first 6 books are a pair of trilogies written by Frank Herbert, everything else is by other people. I've heard books 2&3 are good, 4-6 are weird but pretty good, and everything else (i.e. not frank) are pretty terrible. I've never read anything but Dune since I don't want to taint my impression of the novel, I may read 2&3 soon tho.
I'm rereading Dune sometime this year too! I caved and bought one of the collector's editions of Amazon, look at this handsome thing:

The movie was released in 1984, two decades later the novel was written.
And we are still talking about it, in the year 2021 (according to some of the sci-fi classics, we humans should have conquered the galaxy by now), over half a century later (56 years later) the original story was written.
Whether to read first or to watch first at this point won't change anything.
Because in this case, both the book and movie are GOAT, like LOTR.

Edit: Oh, you were talking about the new one, Dune (2021)......
I have no idea, LOL.

Red Metal – Mark Greaney – 7/10
A action filled stand alone book from Mark Greaney (the same guy who brought you the Gray Man series). I wanted to like this book but it kind of bored me. I guess I can say I'm not really a war guy, but I don't think that was the problem as I've read other war related books that I've definitely liked. I think the problem for me lies in the overuse of military jargon and abbreviations throughout the book. I find it boring to read. The human aspect among the soldiers I did like as it's more engaging and interesting to read.

Finished 7 habits of highly effective people 30 year anniversary edition (audiobook) by Stephen Covey, again.
Good read. Will have to try to put more of it into action. I actually felt myself getting dull lately so I started reading more challenging material and picking up more challenging things to do instead of rotting in games every evening.
In the last chapters he mentioned something about people not writing after graduation and I think that's a very valid point. Sure, one does write a bit in work capacity, but that doesn't necessarily contribute to the improvement of writing eloquently. In the same chapter he told people to read more, start with 1 book a month, then 1 book every 14 days and then 1 book every week
Helping and positively impacting people is one of the key drivers of motivation and feeling of fulfillment <-- a key takeaway from the book (although it has many, many more things that are important)
Abundance mentality <-- Was mentioned multiple times in the book and it's a key factor of the win-win mentality. It's enough to go around to everyone. It's funny since this is something which they mention oftentimes on "The Money Guys" show and in the bible. On that note, it's often written in the bible and other places that one should wish to haveenough, neither too much, nor too little as to be in need. That is a topic that can be mediated over...
