BREAKING NEWS: House PASSES bill to make DC the 51st state after Democrat Mondaire Jones sparked fury by calling Republican arguments against it 'racist trash'
The House passed a D.C. statehood bill 216-208, in a party-line vote with only Democrats voting for it and all the Republicans who voted going against it
The legislation would transform the neighborhoods of the capital city into Washington, Douglass Commonwealth
It would almost certainly result in two new Democratic senators and a Democratic member of the House
Earlier, Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones sparked fury when he said the GOP arguments against D.C. statedhood were 'racist'
'One Senate Republican, said that D.C. wouldn't be a "well rounded working class state,"' Jones said 'I had no ideas there were so many syllables in the word white'
Jones pointed out how last month one GOP House member said D.C. shouldn't become a state because the District doesn't have a landfill
'My goodness, with all the racist trash my colleagues have brought to this debate I can see why they're worried about having a place to put it,' he said
Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Texas Republican, could be heard yelling as Jones made his comments, with Republicans asking them to be struck from the record

How about instead of making DC a state, we give it back to Maryland? Wouldn’t that make more sense? The flag stays the same. The Senate stays the same, but MD gets more house seats. Everybody wins.

Simple retrocession would work perfectly fine. DC would remain a city within the State of Maryland. There is historic precedent as we’ve already done the same with Arlington and Alexandria. Those cities used to be part of the District of Columbia, now they’re back inside Virginia.

Seems like the perfect resolution to me. Republicans are happy to not shift the Senate to the left. Democrats get 2-3 extra seats in House and residents of the district get representation. Maryland is already a liberal state so nothing substantial would change in their local political system.

Yes it will. Once they're gotten rid of the filibuster rules, everything they want will pass in the senate on a 50-50 vote with the VP casting the tie-breaker.

BTW, Kamala Harris is constitutionally unable to hold the office of the VP. She's an anchor baby. Both of her parents were foreign nationals in the country on visas to pursue their educations. They had her so they wouldn't be required to leave once they had completed their studies. Although she is a legal US citizen, she does not meet the definition of natural born citizen and is prohibited from holding a handful of high offices, including VP.

This is not the same thing as the Obama controversy. We do not know if he was allowed to hold office because nobody could confirm where he was actually born. His birth certificate was never found or released. The suspicions about his birth were never put to rest. Those bringing them up were simply gaslighted into silence. There was reasonable doubt whether he also failed the "natural born" litmus test, albeit in a different way than Kamala.

Kamala's case is cut and dry. Beyond the stolen election that put in her that office, she is not allowed to hold that office, which makes all of her actions in that office null and void.

Just so people understand the concern our founding fathers had in this regard. Let's say Putin's daughter and Xi Jinping's son hooked up and had a child that was born the week they were visiting NYC to see a Broadway show. That grandchild of a Russian dictator and the Chinese dictator, raised to hate and despise America, would be an American citizen because it was born in America, but it would not be a natural born citizen because neither parent were subject to US jurisdiction, nor would they hold any sort of allegiance to this country. That child could spend the next 35 years growing up in Beijing and Moscow, but decide on their 35th birthday to run for high office in the US on the democRAT ticket. That person could NEVER be trusted to put the goals of America over those of their parents/grandparents and this is why our founding fathers made this distinction. At the time, they were worried about being dragged into European wars and affairs by politicians here who had divided loyalties, but the concerns still hold in the 21st century for people beholden to our global rivals.

In any event, they will do this. They will get rid of the filibuster. 50 democRAT and independent senators will vote for it. Kamala will illegally cast the tie breaker. This will be in violation of the constitution, but the media will not cover the story, nor the scandalous way in which it will come about. They will only cover the GOP opposing it and claim it's racial and gaslight anyone who disagrees.

Fascism. In America. It's here. The rule of law is gone. 1-party rule forever is here. Billionaire oligarchs + the surveillance state + the deep state + 99.9% of the media + the democRAT party all working together to consolidate power following the CCP model.
