About to say fuk it and become a pilot

My career field I’m in is so damn competitive. I was with a company for 5 years and loved every moment of work but was let go do to COVID cutbacks and now finding another company in my field has been impossible. I recently got the “No” from a job today after two weeks of interviews and that was really my last option. My wife has been in the airline industry for a few years and has been pressuring me to become a pilot and I think after today, I’m gonna say fuk it to my passion and career and become one.

Cliffs- Dear Diary- can’t get a job I want. Think ill just go to flight school

Bro j was thinking of doing the same srs. But it's so expensive to become a commercial pilot. Least you have connections though which I don't.

Wish you the best

Isn't it really expensive and a long path to become a good paid pilot? Like even if you got your commercial pilot license, you'd be working charter jobs for chit pay. The high paying jobs require a lot of hours and experience. Fuk I'd do it if it weren't for all that

Lots of smaller sister companies will give 30k signing bonuses to fly for them. So most Pilots start at one of those for a year or two before going to one of the big ones. So it’s not the best pay right away but Def not bad and a way to get more hours under your belt. You can do cargo flights also to get paid while getting your hours. There’s scholarships and grants for the flight school but I haven’t looked into it to far yet.

It’ll be around 100k student loan I’m guessing. But man, there’s 60 yo pilots flying 3-4 times a month making 500k a year.

yea that’s real comfortable knowing my pilot became a pilot because he was sick of working other jobs and just said “fuk it” one day...

lol jk op. if that’s what you really wanna do then go for it.

Also know why the number 154 is important to know about in your aviation classes. Three minute vid. Airplane engineering is fascinating as hell.

this is fake news. Especially post covid. I'm guessing you're talking about a regional airline, which will take you 2-3 years AFTER training til you make it there.

Becoming a commercial pilot isn’t something you can do over a summer, or even a year. Basically 3-4 years minimum.

And need like 3k in air hours or something crazy to even be considered for an airline pilot position.

That said my dads a pilot, and sister, and many family friends fly airlines and they’re rich af.

Have a client at work who is a pilot, pretty sure he's been laid off due to lockdowns for the better part of the last year. I've heard piloting is very competitive as well.

Also, pics of wife in stewardess uniform?

You think pilots aren't a hyper competitive role?

GL with your 7 years of crop dusting in bum fuk no-where while you get your multi engine endorsements before settling for a small regional airline as an instructor
