2009 Yaris S- bought for 400 bucks and daily it now. Perfect daily imo.

Wife has the real commute though, and was recently in a total loss accident. Just picked up this 2017 CX-5 GT and mayne is it maybe the nicest SUV you can buy for sub-25k. Only a few miles on it so far but it is fully made in japan and is supposedly as reliable as the big jdm names.



Really try to keep cost down on everything but decided for a 10+ year car the CX-5 would be worth it. This is the cost breakdown of my vehicles and what I have in them besides maintenance.

SV650: $800 + $500 in parts
XS650: $550 + ~$600 in parts
Xterra: $4000 (110k miles 1-owner)
CX-5: $20,000 (80k 1-owner)

I got a 2006 buick allure with low miles and a 2010 Ford escape with average miles on it.

The buick is better for road trips etc because it has power for days and is very roomy. The escape is better for every day use and the occasional very light off reading.

That's what I'm talking about, OP. Just guessing, but I've probably only got ~10k miles under my belt. Living in a city now I can't justify upgrading since I rarely get a chance to go 70+, but if I did it would be an R6, F4i or VFR. My commute is about the same as yours, so a Grom would probably be GOAT. Really want to hop on one of those sometime. Do you feel more vulnerable on a grom, visibility-wise?

Hmm, honestly i feel about the same visibility wise on either bike haha. I try to ride like nobody sees me anyways and never try to be in blind spots too long. Having 2 bikes would be ideal with a grom, I haven't tried hopping on the highway with it yet but if the limit posted is 65, I'd imagine it'd be a bad time.

I'd have to sell both my bikes and half what I own to buy and insure a R1 rn, or I'd buy it from you lol. Bike prices are wild right now so if you don't need it I'd sell right now and wait around for someone to sell cheap closer to the fall

Which year and engine? After my wife's accident rental company handed us a convertible 2020?(i think) with the little ecoboost motor (don't really follow new cars closely) and that thing was the fastest car I've been driven(not saying much). So fun to drive and begged to get sideways even w/ traction control. Tried to get wife to buy it from them but she hated it sadly and the wind noise w/ the convertible SUCKED. That said, I was pretty impressed with the features in the car.

Yeah I did the sedan thing for the last decade, had an accord and an acura, also had a tundra for 2 years but it was a bich to drive in some parts of the city, I very much prefer SUVs nowadays.

Being able to carry stuff like a pair of adult skis with luggage, or a few fishing rods and a cooler all while still having access to the rear from inside is very convenient.
