When my boss closed down his company he gave me the green light to take some of his old clients. I also find clients through doing the handyman/moving work. It depends on complexity. I dont charge below $2k for a wordpress site. I go the extra distance doing photoshoots for clients, graphic design, etc to make sure the sites look completely custom. I did alot of custom work at my bosses agency but realized most people don't need custom. Templates save time but I use my coding knowledge to make whatever changes the client wants.

Yup, he was cool enough to give me some. The agency was a side project for him and he couldnt wait to get out of it lol.

Yeah, they need me for leads. I pay my main dude pretty well and he's not about the entrepreneur lifestyle. Very easy going trustworthy guy. the other guys for the handyman/moving work are part time and dont plan on this being their future.

My webdev and graphic designer are also part time/on demand.

He hired everyone full time. He did not have any technical skills himself. He wasnt able to find clients very well. Caught himself in a hole and dipped when the pandemic hit.

Difference with me is if push comes to shove I can always step in and do all the necessary work myself.

I turned 27 two weeks ago so I was that 26 year old chad slayer making x amount/month.

I know you trolling but sometimes I do get upset when people younger than me make more money than me. Especially when its stupid money for low effort work. I work 5-6 days a week from 9 to 9 everyday and have been since september or so. I forgot how to relax and have fun. Im really jealous of people that can relax and enjoy their free time with friends. Even when im with friends/gf I'm always thinking of ways to up my income or scheduling things with clients. GF broke up with me recently and part of the reason was me working too much. Without opening a can of worms, it hasn't been the best for me socially.

My biggest thing right now is figuring out ways to work less while maintaining and growing the income.

Way to go OP. I’m a wage slave but always hustling with side projects. Anything else in that entrepreneur space you see pursuing in the next year or so? How long it take before you made a profit? How did you get leads at first/advertising?

I like what you are sayin. I'm also a 30 year old business owner.

2 year business, started with $25k. Last month revenue was $60k. 1 part time employee. Business growing by 5-10%/month.

Brick n motor retail sales. Started with 0-1 customer/day, I now average 50/day.

So you just bought a moving truck, maintenance stuff for the back of it (pressure washer) and hired a couple employees to go around to the job sites that hire you? Aren’t there a bunch of companies that do similar jobs? How do you stand out in the Yelp/Task Rabbit world?

Maybe I should learn a trade, and buy a truck so I can quit my day job...

hehe tymen.

I started a coffee/tea company and will use it to learn more eccomerce stuff. Most of my clients are "boring" info based sites or restaurants. Never did too many ecom sites and dont have much experience marketing them asides from some basic google ads/SEO. It's gonna be/is my next big focus.
I dont expect the coffee/tea company to be huge at first its more so a passion thing. I love my loose tea. Worked at teavana for a bit before they closed down.

Service based jobs like mine give you instant profit. Lets say I charge $100 an hour for a job. I finish the job, I get the money. I pay my guys based on hours worked. That way I rarely go negative unless someone ****s up. As time went on I took on more costs. Now I have to pay for a million things every month.

Moving jobs are very low risk, same with a digital agency if you know how to do all the work yourself/already have all the equipment needed. Things get riskier as you hire more people, and start paying for insurance, trucks, make bigger investments/equipment in the hope they make you enough money before breaking.

My best advice for getting leads is to find a way to talk to more people and have solutions for their problems. Target rich people who don't want to do any work themselves, do a good job and have them recommend you. It's also easier to market service based work vs digital agency work. I use the moving jobs as a way to find digital agency clients. If a business/business owner needs help moving for example I already have a foot in the door for my other work.

Essentially. I go to the job sites and work with my guys too. Currently have two teams that go out and do work at a time. Im one of the leads and my day 1 guy is the second lead.

I used every app/means of marketing I could find/think of to get myself out there. some are better than others.
It's one of those things you have to just build over time. I started with a few extra jobs here and there and now work full days.

I stand out by offering peace of mind and doing a good honest job. They don't get some sketchy looking dudes coming to their houses trying to squeeze every penny they can out of them.

Do it lol. Just have backup plans. Dont end up homeless cuz of me.

Why'd you stop?

Yeah thats the plan. Sales and management. My current issue is that im scheduled at least a couple days to 2 weeks in advance for 2 constantly working teams. I feel to really smooth things out id have to slow things down and only send out one team of guys at a time. I only have 1 trustworthy lead and me not working would make my income drop too much. Its probably necessary and I consider it more and more every week.

Was also considering hiring a secretary to do all the scheduling for me.

I love my guys too much and wouldn't drop them for people I can pay less.

If you trust your full time guy as much as you say you need to get him to be a copy of you, it sounds like he already is.

Scale up a few more guys to that level where you can cut back hours significantly. Check in with them every day and then every other day.

I assume you use fiverr/up work freelancers for the digital stuff.

Hire a virtual assistant, they cost like $750/month and can complete a ton of repetitive stuff, can schedule stuff etc.

I had a digital agency with a business partner pre Covid we got to like $20k/mo. He had more experience, brought me in, I learned a lot from him. We put that aside when Covid hit to work on a tech project, completed it ready to pitch and he and our other partner bailed on me due to some issues they had at work.

Thats the plan. and nope! digital agency clients come straight from getting my foot in the door from other work. I don't make a killing off the agency yet. Really gotta get things more organized with it. I was considering hiring a tinder sloot to come in once a week to answer emails, do scheduling work etc.

Drank a late coffee with no plans. Just sitting home answering questions and scheduling things for next week. I haven't been able to share this with a lot of my closest friends to this degree. They know I've been doing well but no one really cares about the nitty gritty. Besides I dont want to give them an ear beating about how much I make. Feels good getting everything out there after working at this for so long. Just want to hear a "Good job, OP. We of the misc are very proud of you. Keep it up."

Needed to be validated. Probably similar reason why im posting about this on the misc.

but yeah I'm passed the whole casual sex thing. Only other dudes who aren't lying about their count will know the emptiness/waste of time it brings.
I’m around 40 slay count too and can confirm I feel empty inside. Have wasted years and years of just trying to smash and party with friends.

Besides pressure washing what else does your company offer? Did you watch YouTube vids on how to do all this maintenance work?

Yeah thats the plan. Sales and management. My current issue is that im scheduled at least a couple days to 2 weeks in advance for 2 constantly working teams. I feel to really smooth things out id have to slow things down and only send out one team of guys at a time. I only have 1 trustworthy lead and me not working would make my income drop too much. Its probably necessary and I consider it more and more every week.

Was also considering hiring a secretary to do all the scheduling for me.

I love my guys too much and wouldn't drop them for people I can pay less.
Got tired of it. I dont like dealing with Small Business owners being nitpicky over their websites or campaigns. I could have worked myself out of the tasks with employees but jumped to a different opportunity, I might come back though

Yeah your main issue here is operating as a one-man-army. From your post you are doing sales, project management and operations. You won't be able to scale much beyond your current scope and income that way.

What are this teams doing and why are u meeting with them so often? Design and dev? You need to hire sales reps and project managers if you want to scale, but that will probably turn your operation into a full blown agency

If enough people actually care, I could but its too much work lol.
