Newton is a good contender, but actually probably second. You're forgetting the man who essentially created Western civilization's way of thinking, on whom every educator and scientist for the next 2,000 years based all their teachings and research. Aristotle.

Newton was one of the smartest intellectuals ever.

Lebinz also discovered similar ideas, and people would have figured out his math eventually.

Actual leaders who changed civilization affect our lives more.

I’m always intrigued when I see that picture/video of Stalin sitting next to Churchill and Roosevelt as if he belongs anywhere near the other two. For some reason his kills don’t count, lol. Like Bill Burr said, “Stalin is like the Satchel Paige of mass murderers.”

Vladimir Lenin, the bolshevik revolution and formation of the USSR changed the entire world. Every policy of every nation in the world was shaped by this man and the rise of communism.

Just LOL at people saying some nerd philosopher or scientist or researcher.

Real answers:

Charlemagne
Genghis Khan
Alexander the Great

edit: removed william the conqueror, he's not on the same level as the other 3 GOATs

Also, my explanation for these 3 men is that these 3 men shaped the world more than any other scientist or philosopher. If you listed a guy born in the last 200 years then you're low IQ as fuk. You can't compare that to Charlemagne whom almost all European monarchs descend from or Genghis Khan who founded dynasties in India, China, Middle East, Central Asia, Eastern europe, etc.

These 3 should also be on the list

Karl Marx: Father of the entire global far left movement for the past 100+ years

Niccolo Machiavelli: Creator of the modern game/strategy of politics

J. Robert Oppenheimer: Created the Atomic Bomb & changed warfare forever

Say, ˹O believers,˺ We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.

I find it to be both sad and hilarious that he most likely died a virgin according to most scholarly sources.
He was also likely autistic, which would definitely explain it.

Not sure if it has been said yet, but I really think in modern times, it has to be Nikola Tesla. It would have been amazing to see what he could have accomplished if that greedy as fuk ******* Edison didn't ruin him.

Genghis was alpha af, but I don't see him as being significant in the development of human history as the others mentioned ITT.
Tempted to neg the man who made that for listing christopher columbus in top 10 (srs).

“Some nerd philosopher or scientist”

Let me tell you something. Every invention you see out there was made by those nerds you’re poking fun at. 99% of us are just morons who use sh!t that the nerds had the patience and motivation to figure out.

If someone asked me if it’s harder to invent something groundbreaking or lead men into battle who are programmed to follow orders, I’d say being the inventor requires a higher skill set. Hitler proved that all it takes is a good pep-talk with the right theatrics and tapping into what the masses want, and you got an entire country willing to kill for you. That’s by no means an easy task but it’s not as genius as you think it is in comparison to these “nerds” you are criminally underrating.
