Such a strange sub, I mean we can argue about whether most people will have issues short-term or not, but that place is full of people who've had a rough time of things and even there if you question whether every-single-person must be vaccinated, you get hostility.

Do you just trust everything word for word that vaccine companies, studies, CDC put out or whatever TV man/doctor says? Cuz I kinda get that impression.

Even if you do, absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. I get your point about random deaths as well. Doubt we are going to see anything drastic as far as death rate from general pop but even so if there are some long-term lasting side effects. At the same time though a lot of this is early so hasn't really been investigated so you can't really say yes or no definitively.

I will say though it would seem pretty suspicious if an otherwise healthy 20 or 30 something year old takes a vaccine and a few weeks later drops dead suddenly with some random chit. I feel there are still a lot of unknowns about long-term effects, effectiveness (especially versus variants), the future of these vaccines (is this going to be a yearly thing?), how long immunity lasts. Even the effectiveness in terms of spread. I did see some studies showing some effectiveness in reducing spread (it was like 10% vs 6% for unvaccinated vs vaccinated) but I'd like to see some more stuff. I think it's probably safe to say that it reduces symptoms of covid so it makes sense for older and at-risk people to take it.

I think the way it has been publicized, the way it's been pushed so hard and hastily on people in conjunction with the lockdowns and it's messaging is enough to give people an uneasy feeling about it. I mean I get it in a way but still. It also concerns me how people just accept whatever they hear on media, parrot it and just push those views on other people. And also people minimizing potential side-effects and the unknowns still saying the vaccine is completely safe, oh you just got unlucky, etc. Hell you got ******** and twitter flagging posts of people discussing side-effects and their experience with the shot. I personally know one friend that got pretty severe side effects from it and he is young (32).

If you are a 20-30 something year old, we already know a lot about covid, or at the very least, I think we know more about it than we do the vaccines, the element of the unknown versus what we know about the risks of covid-19, not sure if it stacks in favour of that young person getting the vaccine, unless maybe they live and deal with a lot of old people.

I have a guy in a discord group we are apart and you can kind of think of him as the resident know-it-all on all matters, no matter the subject (he has an engineering degree).

Anyways, he tried to convince me that because they've studied, keyword "studied", the virus it somehow correlates to the vaccine, even though rushed, is perfectly fine as the study is 20 years strong.

Of course, reasoning with him and telling him the two (a study vs. the actual vaccine trial) don't correlate, he zoomed into full on know-at-all mode, per usual.

People like that you can't reason with, simple as that.

The fastest known vaccine was for measles and that still took 4-5 years before it was given to people, usual vaccine study/trails are 10-15 years.
