It was somewhere between 4000-7000 Greeks and closer to 250,000 Persians. All of the 300 were ultimately killed, probably around 2000 total Greeks vs probably 20,000 Persians that were killed. The Persians won the battle, but lost the war, and most of them died of sickness or starvation on the return trip home.

that's some historian estimates pulling numbers out of their ass, u can't trust ancient historians either because they tend to exaggerate, unless you have time machine there's no way to know, persians could be the one who were outnumbered back then, we will never know

Hey Dumb Phuck. Phalanx was invented by King Philip II who died in 336 BC. Battle of Thermopylae was 104 years before that.

The 300 Spartans and company did have the tactical advantage of fighting in the shade, and with temperatures at "The Hot Gates" sweltering into the low 3 figures (F), this strategic edge should not be understated, especially after the Persian Army had drank the nearby river dry and its soldiers were suffering from dehydration before their initial charge.

The weirdest phuckin thing about that movie is when the hunchback guy is in the Persian camp and they pan over this dude with a literal goat head playing a flute and there's no explanation, we never go back to it. Like wtf is this flute dude with a literal goat head?

Everything else is at least somewhat realistic, like the magic bombs are just gunpowder, people fighting with weapons. The goat head dude just always make me lol.

300 film had some fantasy elements to it, like the goat head guy and the axe arm executioner, the giant with the huge sword, one of the Immortals gets his mask knocked off revealing a demonic looking face, Xerxes himself was a giant, and some of the whores at the Persian party/orgy were deformed. I don't think it was all meant to be taken literally.
