Are those really tall lanky people actually strong?
Like those guys and girls who are 6’6+. Most of the time they’re lanky because they have a lot of surface area to fill in.
But if I was to wrestle them, would they actually be quite strong?
Like a 6’7 guy could easily weigh over 200lbs. They tend to have longer moment arms, meaning they have the capacity to generate more force from a wider range of motion. Also, they have larger bones sizes, and subsequently, grip too.
Thoughts?

~6’6 in bare feet here. Lanklets are disproportionately strong for their size.
I had someone call me ‘skinny guy’ the same week I broke 400lb deadlift for reps.
We look weak af tho without gear, that part sucks

Lol no. I’m tall and lanky myself, we generally have high center of gravity and more distribution of our weight. It’s also more difficult and unlikely to pack on muscle so pound for pound will be weaker, especially in wrestling / benching / boxing out whatever
Now if you’re tall and bloat maybe. But tall and lanky implies thin. Even if you’re thin and muscular still can get pushed around by short bloat lords

strong? maybe not so much in the pure sense, but they do have pretty extreme leverages that make them better at certain combat sports, feats of strength. although it can be more awkward for them in other areas.
if you define strength in the powerlifting sense, it's usually going to favour the shorter guys in a certain weight class because they can pack on more muscle on a smaller frame and they have less range of motion. A taller guy in the same weight class would have less muscle in proportion to their frame and have to move weights over a longer distance, generally. Doesn't always necessarily mean the taller guy is weaker, he just simply has to perform more work via a longer distance to move a weight.
For stuff like combat sports like MMA, taller tends to be better as it usually means longer limbs which tend to be better for striking. for BJJ it's mixed, you're probably more susceptible to submissions but at the same time would have a more annoying guard and pull off submissions yourself from weird angles and get better leverage on them.
Wrestling maybe not so much due to higher center of gravity but I'd it depends how they use it and I think there's a way they can use it to their advantage. If they have things like bigger hands then that can be an advantage as well for other stuff. Weight classes make things a bit more complicated.
Most tall guys imo like 6'6 and above tend to be uncoordinated and awkward however.
maybe not the best example but Jon Jones has a very lanky frame and looks like he has chicken legs but the guy is very strong and can squat 500 and deadlift 600.

I knew 3 guys around my age that were super tall.
One was 6'8" and kinda lanky. He wasn't as strong as shorter people who weighed the same as him.
One was 6'7" and really lanky. He was really strong for size. He played linebacker and would absolutely knock your dink in the dirt. I used to hate catching buttonhook passes in practice because of him. When he'd bend his knees and explode through his hips he had some real power.
The last one was 6'10" and just looked like an average sized dude who had his proportions stretched. No muscle definition or anything like that though. He was a freak. Pushing him was like trying to move a brick wall. Insane strength. He was a super chill dude but I saw him get into a fight one time. Dude pulled a knife on him and cut his nose. He hit the dude one time and the guy fell on the ground convulsing. He hit that fukr so hard it made me cringe. I thought he had killed him

Personally, most extreme lanklets I know are weak. A good friend of mine is 6'10, he's lifted for years but he looks weak and he is weak. There's a 7'0 guy who's been at my gym for years, and he's weak too.
That said obviously their leverages are way different than the average person. They excel at deadlifts, but they're going to be heavily penalized benching and squatting. Also keep in mind that strength (work) is defined as mass over distance. If someone with long arms benches two plates, and a little manlet with trex arms benches 275, the long arm brah is actually stronger in terms of how much force/work they're able to generate. Obviously that's not how the average gym brah would see it but that's the truth of it

The mountain's dad deadlifts over 400 and carries 500lbs and looks like the only thing he lifted in decades was a beer bottle.
How do you measure strength though? At benching and squatting they are pretty disadvantaged thanks to their long limbs and having to move the weight further so it's not really fair.
The two tallest guys in my grappling classes are 6'6 and 6'7 look decently muscular, but not like they are active lifters and tend to be around 210 both. One feels really strong the other not so much.
If you had a guy, who is 5'9 210 15% bodyfat, I'd say he feels stronger than a guy, who is 6'6 210 15% bodyfat. Though the short guy will already look really built to the average person. However the tall person still has some weird advantages like greater grip strength due to his humongous hands.

no, they're not they're usually weak and very uncoordinated.
that's why the ones that are that height, strong + coordinated are in professional sports.

What you lose in dyel status as a lanklet you gain in aesthetics with chicks.
Getting the “swimmers build” is very doable. That said you’ll never looked jacked unless you have a pump. I’ve been lifting for years and look athletic but not very muscular
Genetics is everything. There are things we can do well and things we can’t , used to fight it but now accept it
