broken one of my wrist bone hamate, and said it was displaced and could need artificial bone gaft could cause further problems as joint is dislocated and the only way to get back to doing gym was to cut my hand up and fix it.

Hand surgery isn’t a fun picnic but as long as you’re young and do physical therapy you should be OK.

If you broke a carpal bone (hamate) and it’s not healing and your doctor says you need surgery, then buck up and do it son. Men lived through far worse injuries in far worse times.

First time I got it fixed but waited too long so they had to cut me open and rebreak it.
Second time I let it go

I smashed into a telephone pole in my first car (no airbags), going like 40 mph.

My left hand hit the A-pillar and fractured big time. Like bone out of hand type chit.

I went through pt and I was young (19), but my left hand has never been the same.

I think if I punched something hard with my left hand it would potentially break.

Compound fracture you probably damaged more than just the bones. Ligaments and tendons could have been affected.

I had finger surgery once.

Had two pins put in for like 3 weeks or something.

Sadly still cannot fully bend the finger 15 years later.

The hamate is a weird ass bone to break from punching something... unless palm striking. Did you fx the hook of the hamate or what?

I had big ass pins in my hand as well.. I was impressed with how long they were!

My grip strength is diminished and my actual knuckle structure is different on my left hand. They’re like flatter (if that makes sense).

I have a total wrist fusion in my right hand, fingers work fine

All cartilage and bones are removed and a steel plate with screws connects my arm bone to middle finger

I strained my rotator cuff punching my arm rest on my chair hard as fuk. Took 3 months of good physical therapy to fix it lol.

So many injuries are caused by the dumbest chit.

did you had a surgery?i was doing full force hooks into this wooden dummy, at least 3 - 4 hits, and digged in with every shot. i very regularly condition my knuckle bones, i can go full force on the wall without my knuckle breaking i think, but in this case i digged in to the shot using my pinky ring finger thus all the force went into the wrist bone which is hard to condition, i used to hit full force many years ago i broken doors with hand ok, went to sleep and didnt break my hand thats why i assume i can go hard again. but people do grow old. yes i suspect i might have osteoporosis. i thought my hand was op, but it broke.why did u do a second time? fights? did you have any metal put in? hows the after effect? is it stronger with metals in your hand, lifting heavier? surgeon say she will put in screws or artifical bone graft if she see my hamate is gone, base on ct scan my hamate has seperated and is causing joint dislocation of my pinky finger, i need surgery if not next time i will need a joint fusion of my 5th metacarpal. i will post a ct scan if i can over heredid you have surgery to repair? any metal screws? where did it fracture on your hand? if there is pain you could try to get it fix to make it stronger, gripping all ok?mine is not a compound fracture i am still able to use my hand, its just that the bit of hamate is displaced and causing dislocation. yea but still hopefully it turns out wellbut how does the strength differ? the pins as in K wires? they took it out after that? i mean if there is no pain and the strength is there it should be okno its the hamate, hook of hamate is fine, pressed it no problem, did x ray ct scan, doctor told me my x ray look fine totally, only ct scan showed the break in hamate
the other doctor was like well its your luck, one hamate bone and we got to cut open your hand because its displaced, he was surprised how i manage to hit until the bone broke into like thatbig ass pins u mean k wires? where they take it out harder that?, why will grip strength be diminished? u injured your 4th 5th metacarpals? thats where i suppose the grip strength come fromhow did u get injured, is it better? still able to lift? any pains?how is it now?yep, got to keep the emotions in check, actually i just over estimated my hand based on previous experiences, i could go as hard, few times my knuckles ballooned to the size of 2 knuckles, but it healed within few days and i am back to my old self, my friend had a shoulder injury i suppose rotator cuff injury from golf, haven healed in 4 5 months he said, i also injured my rotator cuff when younger, hurt for several weeks, healed up pretty fast, feel nothing now, guess 95% strength of the uninjured one.
