Singapore is one of the most expensive and best countries in the world. If the pay was comensurate to the living cost only a total racist or idiot would not go.

I see what you mean but you are doing a confirmation biases statement.

If you work a good job in Singapore you can afford as much as someone who works the same job in the USA.

They get paid more proportionally.

Lol

I don't believe in slavery so that would have to be a no from me dawg lol.

Yes, and this is actually my goal, but the countries you named are very different economically and culturally lol. I'd 100% take Singapore/HKG. China/Japan would be really tough culturally, since I don't speak the language, but SIN/HKG speak English, are multicultural (by Asian country standards), and a solid expat community, so it'd be a way easier transition. I'm hoping to be able to do something like this soon.

I am not talking about rural China. That is like making the argument America is a ****hole based on Alabama and the rednecks there.

If someone makes a reductionist claim about the USA everyone will say "hey 300m people, different states etc". Imagine now 1.4B people and different cities. That is why I said Tier 1-2.

I accept the Air argument but it is never that bad as in certain industrial/manufacturing regions.
Being a tourist is useless.

Ask people who lived and worked there.

ITT everyone saying Japan 1st and disregarding SG, SK or HK has no clue what they are talking about and have never travelled outside the USA.

Culturally speaking Japan would be amazing to live for a while. However if you are working for a Japanese company I can guarantee OP you will forever be stuck in your work position and always deemed 'the foreigner'. Most likely you will be used to leverage peer or lower employees ideas to management as the working norm of seniority is less applicable to you.

I would definitely take up the opportunity though, it can only grant you a widening of experience and will open doors in the future.

Well, I can't say I disagree and I have never been to these countries.

But what you say seems like a very loaded statement - advancement impairment due to being a foreigner is a bit of a widely generalised statement. How do you even benchmark this compared to the other options?

I am white but I am a foreigner in the UK and if I come to the USA I will also be one. How do I know what limitations I have in whatever configuration? Very hard to view it as strictly as a law.

I hope you understand what I mean this is not something you can check and benchmark like a statistic.

You're right I am being a bit loaded and its obviously not black and white, but as an overall statement its very common. It depends entirely on the company you are working for in Japan. If you are working for a western firm in Japan you can probably progress without issues to a point. However its no mystery that westerners working in Japan for global Japanese businesses are essentially capped on their promotion ability.

I've met a few people in my career that go to Japan to work, but they cant progress as the culture in most national firms are to promote locals. Working culture is very old fashioned and hierarchical in Japan, you should read up on testimonies it's not like working in a western country where nationality or race is less of a factor. Japanese xenophobia is no mystery.

It might result in a better quality of life?

Tier 1-2 in China means the highest and second-highest developed cities.
Worked in Seoul for about a year right before pharmacy school. Made about $70k teaching English and SAT. Loved it and didn't want to come back. I had to come back only because I needed to start school. Love every day I spent there, fcked some hot korean chicks, made love to a beautiful GF that I dated for another 2 years after I came back, LOOOOOOVED the food and the best part was the girls.... lol. Literally got laid 3-4 times a week until I met my exgf.
Trust me, I am a pharmacist.

Hierarchical society affecting this is completely believable as I have heard this from Japanese people themselves who think it is an issuefor them even.

Obviously, only very white-collar business environment work is accessible to foreigners who do not speak Japanese, so wouldn't you end up in those large multinationals in all those country options regardless?

Not sure if this matters but I was told being white and pale is as optimal as it gets to be a foreigner in Japan.

There are other jobs such as US companies or European companies you can work for. Or even some Korean companies that need people who are fluent in English. Itaewon has ton of restaurants that need English speaking people. I just taught English because it was the easiest job I could find but also paid really well. Since I had a BS and an MS degree, parents loved me purely based on that haha. I also had a pretty high SAT score so once they saw my score, it was easy to find students. Word of mouth really helps among affluent parents.

It's good to be wealthy in South Korea unless you're political then they'll throw you in prison or sue you for defamation.

Don't work there. Imagine slave waging for $1.2K to 4K (few Koreans make more than that unless super high ranking in a Chaebol) at 60+ hour weeks and winters get as cold as -20 Celsius in Seoul. It's the national hobby in South Korea to get smashed on bad alcohol. Literally the only country where I saw thin women under 25 sleeping unconscious drunk. Any rapist could just pick up them and drag her home and bang her all night. I heard rumors that the brothel districts would drag in drunk women (some night clubs were alleged of doing this in 2020 too) and sell her to men walking by.

This is a no brainer. South Korea all day every day.

They have the ultimate cleanliness in their country and cities. Really into high tech mixed with greenery architecture. Their cities put US cities to shame with how clean and ultra modern they are.

Women are in shape, skinny, and much more nice to be around too. Food is outstanding.

And the culture? Think the USA in 1955. Everything is much more innocent. Just watch some K dramas on netflix. You will see.

And hnnggggggggggggg Yoo in-ah.

Something like the last 5 South Korean Presidents are either in prison, being charged with a crime, under house arrest or almost ended up in prison.

South Korea's democracy is equivalent to Ukraine's lmao. Every ex leader ends up in prison lol

At least they go to prison.

Every retarded chauvinist brings this up - America is not different - embezzlement everywhere. Don't get me started on SJW culture - non-existent in SouthEast Asia.

My thinking, call me an idiot if you wish, is that this does not matter for us plebs (aka wage people).

Who cares that if you are a Software Engineer in Shanghai it will mean you can't Tweet against the GOV of China. If I was in the USA, I wouldn't do that because people who are on Twitter aren't going places anywhere in life.

But if it results in a pay rise (relative to the cost of living), Chinese females bang you because you are at least 6'0, pale af and have sharp facial features (e.g no incel in EE and West), please tell me why I should care about these things? Literally struggling to understand your political pseudnointellectualism.

South Korea has no diversity of the wrong kind, and their females are good-looking, and it is clean everywhere and people follow rules (my personality is the same).

Yeah, I can't become president in SK or China. Boo-hoo? Let me just convince myself that just anyone can become President of the USA as long as he is born there and has citizenship. No connections, family background necessary. Unflawed democracy that leaves no corruption.

Cheers?
