How much do you incline bench?

And what's the best way to get the numbers up apart from doing the movement 2 to 3 times a week?

My current max is 225 x 5.

Best was probably like the 150 dbs for 7 or so reps.

Never trained chest more than once a week.

Noice. You just stick to dumbbells? I've got really chitty upper body genetics so I can't make any progress if I just train once a week.

Working back into the gym since being on a hiatus of only working out once a week

The 1st thing i did when going into the gym though for all those sessions was incline. I'm currently at repping out 245 10 times with 3 sets

I've always loved incline bench

Fook, that's a solid number. What helped you most to get your incline up apart from just doing the exercise?

I just never do flat bench...I always carry fat on my chest region and my brother had man boobs...i remember reading somewhere the way to prevent that is to avoid decline and do incline like you life depends on it

But to answer your question I do pec deck, cable flies, then do 1 arm pec decks to exhaustion...the best part of my body now is literally my chest/shoulders

Probably used every movement at some point in time. Right now 2 main pressing movements are shallow decline dumbbell press and shallow incline smith machine.

Working around a shoulder injury rn. Best way to connect with chest imo is with small angles or specialty bars. I love the cambered bar for chest.

train alone so mainly use dbs, currently do 90s for 6-8 reps. Realistically could do 100s for a few so whatever that translates to on barbell

I only ever do shoulder press and incline for my chest and shoulder Lol. Gotta start incorporating some of these exercises.

Do you find decline helpful for adding mass to your chest? Or will it give me juicy manboobs?

Seems like more people prefer db over barbells. You can just roll down the bar and stand up if you ever get stuck while doing incline.

I normally have chest its own day then on another session incorporate shoulders as an auxiliary exercise since they've always been prominent.

decline doesnt mean you get man boobs..it actually provides a nice cuff to your chest and brings out the bottom to make it stick out

Since ii'm already genticaly inclined to carry fat there then I can't do those exercises because I already have that cuff from genetics

220x20
315x5

Those are current but don't incline bar much, usually smith and less focus on weight

In on actual weighlifting thread

Are you supposed to touch your chest on incline? I swapped them out for dumbell incline press a while ago because my shoulders and wrists started hurting, just not a comfortable lift for me

I touch on flat not incline. Feel like the load all shifts to front delts that last inch or so. But if I had the ability/mobility to keep the tension concentrated on the chest for that portion I would

Do you have your thumbs on the same side of your fingers or the opposite side of the bar?

Typically if u have your thumbs on the same side as your fingers it will target the chest more....if your grip is closer then it will hit your triceps a bit more too

But I dont touch chest either on incline...i dont think u technically can if you have your fingers and thumb on the same side without losing the bar

Gotcha. I'd guess decline is also good for building overall mass since you can use the most weight with it.
