so i was mildly depressed, but managing. I started taking finasteride 3 months ago, then some life events happened, and felt overly fukt mentally. Legit crying and irrational thoughts.( i never cried so much since after puberty, but i'm certain it's from crushed DHT from finasteride. DHT is shown to create strong male mental resilience the "just be a man" advice works when your test + DHT is high. There is a reason why women cry and men don't and it's DHT imo)

I'm over it now, i'm unsure if an SSRI helped that much or if i just got over it naturally and adapted to perform mentally with low DHT. I was on lexapro for 2 weeks, then switched to prozac for 2 weeks so i've been on an SSRI for a total of 4 weeks. However, introducing Finasteride and dealing with life events with low DHT was a first for me since puberty is what I believed created such acute depression( bitsh boy crying), but after experiencing life stress + low DHT for the first time since post-puberty it made me realise the amount that test + DHT improves mental performance.

btw, not everyone gets finasteride induced crying/being-a-pussy so don't take this as anti-finasteride propaganda.

felt like i needed to write this because there are countless "finasteride broke my cock" threads but I haven't seen anyone mention finasteride use and response to depression. This was not finasteride induced depression btw. I would have felt sad regardless due to life events, but the crying i'm 100% blaming on finasteride. I cry about once every year or two with normal DHT levels, but on fin, I was crying like 2-3x a week for like 3 weeks after some life stress. probs would not have cried at all if I had natty DHT.

i'm still going to continue taking fin (and prozac) tho because male pattern baldness is BRUTAL in my family. Norwood 3 before 30 is to be expected w/o fin with my genetics

I've taken many drugs that made me start crying. I've taken a few that made me have genuine immediate suicidal thoughts, which stopped when I stopped taking them. Drugs are serious business.

Clomiphene/clomid is the only drug that made me cry for no fukking reason whatsoever, lol.

I tried lexapro for two weeks and my sex drive plummeted so I stopped and recovered.

I had a hair transplant and am on TRT and will never touch finasteride. Even though I’ll likely need another transplant down the road.

Finasteride + SSRI’s = a destroyed libido.

Get off both of those drugs and save up for a hair transplant.
