I think there are a lot of sides to this.

One side is, yes, "believe the science". It is 95% effective. However why not have it 98-99% effective on a population level? However I do agree with you, at that point, why do you give a chit if others have been vaccinated or not? 70% of the population will be vaccinated anyways regardless. If it is effective as they say it is, why would you push for things like vaccination passports or vaccination of the entire population. There's a point where these type of measures aren't worth doing.

I think another side of it is them actually indirectly admitting that the vaccine isn't as effective as they say. "You can still spread the virus with a vaccine hence we still need to remain in lockdown and wear masks, you need to also get the vaccine as well because the vaccine isn't effective only if I take it because I can still get it". Just lol.



My opinion is yeah, the vaccines are probably effective in reducing the severity of symptoms. Probably transmission as well though I haven't seen many studies (if somebody can link). One could possibly infer that if it reduces the severity of symptoms, the more asymptomatic you're likely going to be hence less spread? Is it 95%? I have my doubts, probably less than that. However I think these vaccines are much less effective against the variants, especially the indian variant which to my knowledge hasn't been studied. Although India doesn't have many people vaccinated, their cases are skyrocketing although it could be a case of the variant spread outpacing vaccination. However in Canada and where I live specifically, our cases haven't really gone down despite 40% of the population having at least one dose, time will tell though. I feel like we are just going to go back to square one with the neverending fear mongering about the new variants which will be used as an excuse to lockdown even longer and keep some of these silly measures up. Booster shots and vaccines for indian and whatever variant comes to existence.

Definitely not 15x more deadly than the flu haha, I'll give it maybe 3x-4x more deadly, probably closer to 3, that's about it.

Aren't under 16 kids still not allowed to be vaccinated? My brother lives in Jersey and I heard he's still not allowed to get his shot yet since he's under 16. If you already got vaccinated but carrying the virus then you're still in danger of infecting those around you. That's what the health experts say. So yeah I'm gonna leave it at that. I dont know if your state makes it mandatory to wear a mask or not, but I dont think it'll be forever, and it may sound cheesy but if you don't want to infect someone who hasn't been vaccinated yet, or at least lessen the chance of doing so, why not just wear a mask? I live in an Asian country and for us there's no problem wearing masks. South Korean experts credit their excellent covid response to their citizens being used to wearing masks for years and years because of yellow and fine dusts from China and SARS and MERS years ago. They can breath just fine with it. I can breath just fine with it. If it lowers the chance of me getting infected or me infecting someone, I'll wear it no problem since I'm healthy enough to not experience any difficulty in breathing. But that's just my opinion. If I keep my mask on when I do a full sprint up the stairs, it's 100% harder to breath than it is if i don't take the mask off. Could it also be that Koreans have amongst the lowest rates of obesity in the world? They are at around 4%. America is 42% which is more than 10x the rate. Another 30% of Americans are overweight as well. We all know that the virus disproportionately affects obese people. Even if for a second let's say being a maskcel is the reason, where I live everybody literally wears masks everywhere. Even outside all alone and with children. Can confirm we are still in a lockdown after more than a year.
