Isn't that a fairly typical summertime situation around the world for fuel prices?
The current price here is around 1.25$ a litre. It was down below a dollar at the beginning of the pandemic. It's been as high as 2$ a litre in the past. Fluctuates a lot but usually settles at around 1.15-1.30 a litre.

Pretty sure the average person there dgaf about fuel prices. Everyone rides bikes around anyways.

Visited my grandpa's brothers there last year. They are in their late 80s and still bike 50+km a day

Open with limited spots and bookings for reservations. Good luck making gains lifting 1x per week because everything is full. Won't be fully open until august.

The Netherlands have some of the highest prices for vehicles in the world.

Their Government purposely does this because they don't want people to buy Gas engine vehicles.

Plus, there is really no need for a car in the Netherlands since it's such a small country and everyone bikes and the public transit is very good.

It rains almost every day so good luck riding your bike in chit weather. Also the lowest scum of the earth uses public transportation. All the ''diverse'' people ride it. Trust me, you won't enjoy riding public transportation in the big cities. Not to mention it's crowded af in the morning (after walking/cycling to it in the rain)

Even so, your country is so small that a tank of gas probably last you a month or more. Especially since 90% of your cars are like 1.5-2lt small engine hatches that have high MPG ranges.

I mean yea, paying 9$ sucks, but I can bet your 9$ a gallon last you way longer than my 3$ a gallon. There is a reason why gas is cheaper here it's because in USA we drive everywhere and the average Home to work is about 45min or 30 miles one way.
