Look up infant mortality, dummy. Those "stats" are averages - which means that if two people are born and one lives to 100 and the other dies at childbirth, the "average life expectancy" is 50 years. Modern science has virtually eliminated infant mortality whereas 150 years ago your family would have 7 kids and 2+ of them would die before they reached childhood. Those "cases" drive the AVERAGE life expectancy of the entire population down. If you go back even further in time, humans would very often die by way of living a DANGEROUS life - not from disease or sickness but through hunting accidents, predators, a rival tribe coming in and murdering you, etc. Absolutely none of that is filtered out of those "average life expectancy" metrics. The difference today is that nothing is going to prematurely kill you in your office or your home. After you account for infant mortality and environmental factors, the average life expectancy is virtually the same.
