This forum is fukking depressing

Back when I lurked the Misc was all about self-improvement, bettering yourself, living a life you won't regret, channeling the spirit of Zyzz

This place was hilarious and filled with autists and gymbros who were all joined in mindset

These days it's nothing by incel rants and blackpill/doomer defeatism

The Insta Misc group chat is so much more like the old forum than this place now

I've made the same observation, I find I am generally no longer amused here in the way that I once was. I still stop by and find it amusing but more in the way you might watch the Chimpanzees at the zoo fling poo at each other.

As Xeron states above some of these elements were always here but there was also a healthy dose of positivity and true intelligent thought. The underlying tone is now 99% negative and defeatists attitudes and conspiracy theory is being regurgitated in place of actual thought.

Oh, it's THIS phucking thread again.

Allow me to post a video from 2011, relatively shortly after Zyzz's death. It will indicate that even back then, there was a feeling that the misc was depressing and abundant in 'forever alone' type pity threads.



I don't think the misc is any worse NOW than it was in 2012ish. People just love to pretend that the misc is some kind of sinking ship and won't be around in a year or so. Some people have been saying this year after year...if it's so bad then you wouldn't even bother posting.

You have to realize that late 00s, early 10s were the last drops of optimism in modern society. After WW2 the idea was that things would just increasingly get better for everyone in an unprecedent parabola of advancement in technology, life quality, health etc. By the mid 2010s it started to become clear that this is not only impossible but that we were missing many very bad side effects that just now started coming to the forefront. By 2020 it became clear that our society is in shambles, dating sucks, wages are going nowhere, the middle class is gone and it's becoming impossible to afford anything. Globalization is killing off local cultures and ways of life, Google decides who you can vote for and how you can think, there's a pandemic, dating and marriage is dead, degeneracy is on the rise and things are looking to get worse before they become better after some new catclysm that hasn't arrived yet.
