any older brahs getting chitty sleep

so im in my early 30s and ever since late 20s my sleep has been getting worse and worse.
I used to be able to sleep 9-10 hours easily and wake up refreshed until early 20s, now max i get is like 7 and sometimes on a good day ill get 8. Id be tired all day and sometimes needs naps. I workout so it cant be lack of exercise. Should I get some tests done to see if something is wrong?

Same her, check test levels. Been waking up frequently with joint pains and stiffness. Damn near miss 20s where you could recover quickly from a workout.

Somewhat normal due to aging AFAIK. Your body is less able to repair itself. And sleep hygiene gets more important; stuff like keeping a regular schedule, dark/cool room, etc.

I feel like I haven't gotten a good nights sleep since I was 24. I am 31, get maybe 6 hours a night on a good night if i am lucky. Have to knock myself out with Melatonin too.

What helped me get better sleep:

King sized bed (used to sleep on a twin small af)
Softer mattress (if on a budget buy a zinus mattress topper)
Black out curtains
High quality pillow.
Ear plugs if you have noisy neighbors, howard laser lites.
A sleep routine where you go to bed and get up at the same time.

But the #1 secret to good sleep imo, is a good mindset.
When i'm not tired and i go to bed, i think of the past, the future, all the chit i still have to do and i am just a mess filled with anxiety and what not.
But when i work my ass off and i did everything i could've possibly done that day in terms of progress, i go to bed completely exhausted with a sound mind.

I once worked 20 hours nonstop, went to bed and within 2 minutes i was outcold. No lingering thoughts, no worries or stress, i just closed my eyes and i was fukking gone.
Slept amazing. Only downside was that my alarm went 3 hours later because i had a deadline to catch.

1. NEVER drink caffeine.
2. Exercise well.
3. Stay away from technology for 2-3 hours before sleep, the longer the better.
4. Reduce anxiety.

There for awhile I would sleep poorly, the older I became. Now it seems like I sleep quite well most nights. What helped me was skipping dinner and snacks in the evening. Taking a nitric oxide supplement. And taking a magnesium supplement. Since starting these often times now I sleep through the night without waking up.

This, and to expound on number 3...If you do wake up, do not look at your phone for any reason. Use the bathroom and lay back down. If you see a text or look on SM something you see can alter your mood, or you might get stuck looking at something and boom an hour has passed. Once I started putting the phone away a couple of hours before bed, and leaving it there overnight my sleep improved BIG time.

legit identical to my scenario.

i still need naps and my sleep is noticeably worse than when i was in my early 20's.

as others have said the key to optimal sleep really is no technology beforehand and a dark, cool room. a positive test came back for OSA and the surgery helped for maybe five years but after that, father time took over.

Yep. I use benadryl + melatonin + a cup of chamomile tea, and if I’m not asleep within the next hour and a half, I know I won’t be falling asleep for a long time. Not using those basically means I’ll be up all night, unless I’ve had a lot of alcohol or something. And drunk sleep is absolute chit, as most people as aware.

Stop all caffeine and all pre-and post workout, most supplements, like carnitine, ginseng etc. you get the idea,

Low-calorie or low carb diet will hurt sleep also. If this is the case time it so that you have a large at least 1000 cal meal before bed, that includes some carbs,

Supplementation like the ZmA, tends to work because of the magnesium in it, there are natural sleeping aids that do not have lots of melatonin, you don’t want too much melatonin, look for the ones that have at the very most 1, or better 0.3 of melatonin. Or none. There are various herbal teas specifically titled as sleeping aid, and of course CBD is worth a shot.

Less computer at night, no TV or phone, get that electronics **** out of your bedroom, you may even want to switch off Wi-Fi on your router, dark room, good hard contoured pillow, good mattress. Sex... or in case if miscers self sex... And in case of Democrats homosexual sex.

There are even more things to try, fresh air, Go for a walk before your evening shower and bed, less stress, make your room colder, and so on

Low test makes you sleep more? I thought lack of sleep lowered test?

I went through a pretty long period of poor sleep so I started using 3-5mg of melatonin and it worked but after at least a year of using it nightly I started to get worried about becoming dependent on it so I just stopped and to my surprise I'm getting better sleep without it. Even when I wake up to go to the washroom I'm able to get right back to sleep which was the main problem before.

I think the biggest thing is staying disciplined with going to bed at a consistent time within no more than a half hour window. It doesn't sound like much but when you think about how much more refreshed you feel after a 30-45 minute power nap it makes sense why cutting your sleep by that much would result in feeling like crap the next day.
