Lol at taking it as property, cannot wait to be taxed on every item I have bought in my possession. Fed Reserve and the banking industry as a whole has been shook by cryptos. Hope the have to close their doors. They should have never been bailed out. They need a crypto backed by gold

Just look at all the coincels here on the misc who have been having their entire life savings wrapped up in crypto. They are the kind of people that pyramid and ponzi schemes prey upon. Blinded by the dollar signs in their eyes and dreams of getting rich quick.

Its a fact. But there are strong deflationary forces at play too.

If this idiot actually was right about his inflation claim he can short DXY (the USD forex basket) and make trillions in the markets.

But he's wrong and has no clue what hes talking about.

I sat back and imagined for a few minutes living a life where I cared so greatly about what other people are doing with their investments. Then I snapped back to reality and realize I do live in a bubble.

He did a classic pump n dump. Bought a bunch, pumped it up by featuring it in Tesla, then dumped it and took it away. Now it's crashing and he's richer than ever. The virtue of being a big billionaire.

To what benefit does that bring you? As I said, I guess I live in a bubble because most people that I know invest a certain percentage of their entire portfolio in crypto, and have been dollar cost averaging since before $20k.

Bitcoin is the only hard asset left, 21M supply and 100M satoshis per coin. Elon may manipulate it, but he is only doing it so his billionaire friends and institutions can buy cheaper. Bitcoin will minimum flip gold's 10T market cap by 2025 and be worth 1M plus by the end of the decade. This is coming from someone who has been in and out of crypto since 2013. Tell me one investment that will still 10-20x? I'll wait.

Exactly this, I don't understand why it's so hard to understand a billionaire likes to make easy money lol. Elon found a quick way using his companies and social media presence to get goofballs to pump up his cryptos, he sells it at the top then talks chit about it so it dumps back down, all the while driving more $ into his other cryptos.

Bitcoin is a zero sum game at best

Really negative sum game because it requires an enormous amount of electricity and compute resources to maintain

Explain how this is a ponzi scheme? Typically the person at the center of a true ponzi continues to get paid off by new investor money. How is crypto considered this?

It seems more to me aligned with investing in a company with a very high PE ratio? Or is doing that also considered a Ponzi scheme in your book?

Yeah and I do agree, your investment strategy has to be blended. But your thread doesnt make that statement. You are casting a pretty specific net without laying out your assumptions up front.

For those reasons, it makes you come across as someone bitter and that doesnt help sway "the kid's" choices.
If you came across as someone that actually understood different aspects of life, maybe "the kids" would think you had a leg to stand on with your positions.

Ponzi scheme may not quite be the right term, but there is a basis for it

THe only way people profit from bitcoin/crypto, is for new investors to come in and buy them off you at a higher price. And same for them, and same for them...ad infinitum. Eventually it will run out of new investors willing to pay a higher price

This is not like stocks., because stocks represent companies which create wealth and value. Bitcpin does not

Elon's nonsense will be a tiny blip for legitimate crypto in the long term. However, he's definitely hurting Telsa in the long run with these antics. Lot of the younger people in crypto are losing paper money because of this sh!t he pulled and go on to boycott his products in the future.

I enjoy my V8's so no thanks to any EVs for now, especially Tesla.
