I can't say it's concrete evidence but it is very much a possibility. I mean, to think that there's no advance Alien life in this Universe is kind of silly.

Isn't funny that billions of people across the world believe in man made religions, where one dude saw something without any evidence of any kind but in the modern world they won't believe countless UFO videos lol.

Maybe if the Aliens start performing some miracles maybe people would believe in their existence

Hmm well let’s see.....the viral videos* need not be anything fantastic or mysterious- these have been addressed in detail for years now- see metabunk for insightful discussion about the vids.

Eyewitness testimony is not good evidence. Someone posted a vid above with Neil’s take on it, and he correctly says that in science, eyewitness testimony is about the lowest form of evidence you can get on the totem pole [if it can be even called evidence]- for many reasons, but one obvious one is humans are notoriously poor observers.

So what does that leave us? Not much at all.

Aliens playing games in our sky is quite the extraordinary claim, and it requires more evidence than a literal blob in a dark, grainy video. So until actual, significant evidence presents itself, there is no need to think any of this is aliens.

The cbs 60 minutes segment on this was one of the poorest examples of journalism I’ve seen in a long time [and that’s saying a lot given the previous year]- it really was disappointing to watch. Proper, rational, skepticism nowhere to be seen, they just play the same old viral navy UFO videos as if they are some deeply mysterious phenomena- when they have been analyzed now for years and shown to be consistent with things like airplanes, balloons, etc. Almost as if they put no effort into the journalism at all. But it’s very exciting for the audience to hear people like Luis Elizondo telling us the US govt is saying UFOs are real [as some oh wow moment...when in actuality that need not be about aliens at all, just mundane UFOs in footage confirmed by the pentagon to be authentic]. Very typical example ofsensationlismhere, as opposed to investigative journalism. Aliens and mystery are much more exciting of course than the mundane.

Nothing much to see here. Haven’t bothered to read most of the thread, but nice to read AltarofPlagues talking some sense- met by the typical “must be aliens” mob as usual on the misc.

"Leaked video appears to show UFO plunging under water off California"

“I can confirm that the video was taken by Navy personnel,” spokesperson Susan Gough said. She added that the footage is under review by the UAP Task Force, the Pentagon’s recently launched team dedicated to investigating such incidents.

Look, the media know absolutely nothing about anything they cover. Like zero. And that's as much as most of the public knows in detail about any complex subject.

Remember the DC Sniper bullchit? I do. The media went on and on, reporting how it had to be a highly trained military sniper with a specialized weapon. They had "experts" on who talked about that at length. Blah blah blah. Turns out it was a crazy guy with a hunting rifle and a cheap scope.

Odds are, these are all some sort of completely ordinary undisclosed craft from some government, not doing anything especially remarkable, and people are just not informed enough to dismiss the wild claims.

Not sure which video you are looking at, but the object in the tic tac video (i.e., the video associated with the Nimitz) is white (=hot) on the IR against a dark background. Also it appears to be in the sky, you dont even see water in the video.

Ah yes, yet another blur of an object on a grainy video. Not the kind of evidence needed to support claims of alien visitation. Whatever this is, it is not necessary to exclude a mundane object. Heck it is unclear if this isnt just something going over the horizon vs a splash down. Note the odd reappearance of the blur. Or if it is a splash down, it doesnt have to be a physics-defying trans-medium craft piloted by aliens. I think some people mistake the confirmation (by pentagon, navy, etc) as adding some sort of legitimacy to the ET claims, but it's nothing of the sort. They are just saying it's authentic footage (or some very possibly mundane UFO).

2019, but just declassified and released/hyped by jeremy corbell. The same guy who hypes all these grainy videos and is biased for all things UFO related. Same old stuff. Anyone should be wary of what this guy is peddling.

One of them it is hot against the sky, the other it is cold against the sea.

You are referring to two different videos, of entirely separate incidents. The one you mentioned up thread (tic tac) is a hot object against a dark sky. While it's low res, grainy IR footage and hard to conclude anything with certainty, the object in the video is consistent with a distant plane (see analysis on metabunk).

The other you are referring to is the gofast video, which doesnt seem to show anything spectacular, just a non-hot object moving at roughly wind speed (perhaps a balloon, Mick West did an analysis that supports this)... which due to visual tricks appears to be moving super fast.

Consider the two claims:
A. The object in the gofast video MUST be a balloon
B. The object in the gofast video is consistent with being a balloon.

I think people confuse these. Im not really claiming A here. However I've seen solid arguments that support B.....and the weaker statement B is enough for me to consider the footage somewhat uninteresting (and not ETs playing games in the sky from an occam's razor perspective- why introduce that to explain an object moving at roughly wind speed above the water?). In any case, a wild claim like ETs playing games in the sky requires (imo) a lot more evidence than distant blobs in grainy videos.

Nah it was humans. Ancient humans in Wakanda with advanced technology.

Oh, and btw, the IR shows that the "tic tac" has a lower IR signature than the water surrounding it.

14 miles is nothing. You think they are just looking at stuff within 14 miles You have no idea. The fieter jets maybe. But they are pretty noise isolated. My long range camera, 14 miles is short range

"Star & Stripes quoted former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas, who was at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana in 1967 when 10 ICMs he was overseeing suddenly became inoperative - at the same time base security informed him of a mysterious red glowing object in the sky.

Robert Jamison, a retired USAF nuclear missile targeting officer, told of several occasions having to go out and "re-start" missiles that had been deactivated, after UFOs were sighted nearby.

Similar sightings at nuclear sites in the former Soviet Union and in Britain were related."

Why would we be doing this to ourselves? (Not asked you specifically) I would think a controlled environment with these weapons tests would be enough. Also these types of shut downs with uap's sighted still occur. Seems like a waste of time to be conducting those same shut downs for 50+ yrs.
I think you and I are looking at this from similar viewpoints. I'm not claiming that any of this is alien, but we don't really have a lot to go with and the 2 possibilities are both very hard to accept.

Possibility 1, it's all man-made. It's just another example of a very misleading government sitting on extraordinary technology. But this is hard to grasp on so many levels. It wouldn't be an expansion of technology we already posses, it would be a massive leap which we have never come close to before. It would be like going from a sailboat to a space station with nothing in between. To move at the speeds recorded with the ability to change corse instantaneously appearing to be unaffected by gravity or the environment around it is miraculous by our known technology. These things don't appear to be aerodynamic in shape and travel without any trace of propulsion.

Possibility 2, its not of this Earth. The issues with this theory speak for themselves and many have already pointed out all the things that would be necessary for this to be the case. Extremely hard to accept as the answer.

This is the misc after all and all of us, on both sides, are looking at small pieces of a big puzzle. I'm a little surprised by how dug in some people are on this debate.

For those on the man-made side, saying it's the government playing games, making the next crisis, distracting the public, ect. It's a possibility. But that is also the most simple explanation. We are taking something that may be extraordinary and putting it in a box that fits our pre-existing understanding of what we already accept to be so.

Considering the second option is much more difficult. It doesn't have a conclusion that is easy to accept. It would actually create a million new questions that will go unanswered, possibility forever.

I agree but if each intelligent species is too far to ever reach each other or communicate, it's essentially being alone.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

I dont view these as the only two possibilities. The other possibility- and perhaps the elephant in the room- is it is man made and also there is nothing extraordinary about it. It could be balloons, airplanes, drones, birds, atmospheric effects, even astronomical objects on these videos, but due to visual/camera tricks they appear to be something extraordinary.

That's if we're talking about the videos. As for the eyewitness accounts like what's coming from Fravor [who is remembering something from 15 years ago, oddly very sharply [even though details and the story have changed over the years], seems to have been interested in UFOs outside of the incident, and going out of his way to make himself into a celebrity over this the past several years], well there are all kinds of reasons that is not good evidence. So what exactlyisthe evidence that there is all kinds of gravity-defying, mega high speed crafts zipping around and changing courses instantaneously? Im amused that that a navy pilot is [claiming] to see UFOs off the coast every day for 2 years.....and yet there are people constantly flying around the skies in commercial jets and oddly not seeing much at all. I mean you'd think maybe once one of these strange craft- if that's what we are talking about- would pull up right next to a jet in the sky full of passengers and spook them. You dont seem to hear much about this though, in an age where everyone has nice cameras on their phones. Those aliens must be selective about whom they target I guess. [this is in fun, but the point above stands, nothing really need be extraordinary here].

It would actually create a million new questions that will go unanswered, possibility forever.
agreed but also the third option would be what numbersguy said in the quote below. could be all ordinary things that have poorly been explained. I am however, skeptical of skeptics who are not experts in a field "debunking" photos and vids.

They say they have way more photos and videos that are in higher resolution that they haven't released yet.

[because the videos need not be showing this, and a first-hand story is not good evidence].

My biggest confusion with some of the explanations done by youtubers is, if it was so easy for them to analyze the footage and determine what these "real" speeds are etc, why hasn't the gov issued statements. How can dozens of pilots be so misinformed but youtubers with time on their hands easily debunk.

In the past, sure, the gov would lie and cover it up and you'd have conspiracy theorist making claims but now they're admitting and disclosing and declassifying. Discloser but not correcting misinfo or debunking pilots seems counter.

Someone itt was recommending a youtuber that debunks the alien stuff but to youre point sayin Fravor has been interested in ufo's (tho in the footage i've seen he says thats not the case), the same can be said of that skeptic youtuber. something fishy about a guy whose whole channel is about debunking ufo/uap photos and vids. Gives the impression that he has his mind made up and is set on confirming his views rather than being objective.

On a side note - the universe is immensely big and with that, interstellar travel seems impossible but there's a possibility that it's from our own solar system or alpha centauri. We don't even know whats in our oceans. We don't even know what is the true circumstances necessary for intelligence to evolve. We only look for indicators that resemble how we came to be on earth. There are over 200 moons in our solar system. Our instruments aren't powerful enough to know what's truly going on there. js its a possibility that they are'nt coming from as far as we might thing.

One thing for sure is that if its the gov they must be laughing at what Elon and Virgin Galactic are trying to do.

Perhaps the most confusing aspect of all this is not the UFO videos themselves- those need not be showing anything other-worldly- but actually the govt response and eagerness to confirm the videos.

Again, this has no implication regarding the govt confirming Extraterrestrials or anything of the sort. They are just confirming the videos are real (and likely showing some mundane thing)- as opposed to someone making up a fake video. But I’m somewhat at a loss as to exactly why they are so eager to further all the UFO speculation, which is making the news rounds in ridiculous fashion. I’ve seen various explanations including to alleviate the burden of FOIA requests regarding the videos, but who knows.

As for Fravor- and this is not that important because he is associated with just that one incident, not filmed, and it’s merely eyewitness testimony....well between him speaking at ufo-fests, giving all kinds of interviews jumping to conclusions about alien UFOs, and the stories about flying near camp sites (as a “ufo”)- if you want to believe that stuff...it kinda looks like he has an interest in aliens. Sure he may have seen something...but humans tend to be relatively poor observers, especially in the heat of the moment. But its not very important.

Not sure what you mean about expert in a field, but we are talking about analysis of videos and information contained on the screen. A navy pilot, for example, while an expert at flying an aircraft, is not necessarily an “expert” in analyzing videos- not sure what that would even mean. All that is needed, again, is to show the videos areconsistentwith mundane phenomena. That’s it. And the analyses (by Mick West, for example) succeed in doing this for several of the videos. The effects many times are re-created on camera or examples given from other videos. The numbers are right there on the screen for some of these, available for analysis- and this information is more interesting/reliable than personal recollections from pilots etc.

I would say the probability of intelligent life living elsewhere in the solar system is quite slim, but hey, I’m always open to changing my opinion if significant evidence rolls in saying otherwise. Blobs on grainy videos and personal stories dont really cut it though.

I agree. I think the biggest "oh chit" for me is not the footage but that the gov seems to be pushing the narrative of it possibly being aliens. None of the footage or pics are remarkable imo but military officials accounts ALONG with the gov playing into the accounts and footage is really what has my mind going. Ex. them admitting to lying about shutting down that ufo program yrs ago but were actually still running it. It's very unlike our gov. Chit it wasn't too long ago where they were denying area 51 was even real (regardless of what goes on there) and now they're like "yeah, they've been shutting down nukes and flying in restricted areas. Truly the strangest part. Wondering what their real agenda could be.

As far as the expert stuff i mentioned. I just think, generally speaking, expertise lends to credibility and outsiders tend to over simplify when they aren't truly in the know. An extreme ex. would be all the silly ways flat earthers try and prove their belief but have zero understanding of physics. When you have an intelligent speaker they're points can seem more convincing when not directly challenged atm. Would like someone like West to have a proper back and forth since his explanations seems satisfying enough but I would think Fravor would have the sense to analyze the footage just as thoroughly if not more as to not appear to be a quack to his peers and the public.

Eye witness accounts can def be b.s 100% agree on that

We will have to agree to disagree about Fravor and other pilots being experts in camera/visual effects on video screens. To stay on the topic of Fravor, notice his explanation of the Nimitz video [which he did not take] around the 24min mark:

All kinds of problems here. It’s the same mistake naive treatments make, not even taking into the account the change in zoom, and seeming to not understand that things like distant planes on IR donotneed to show things like exhaust plumes due to various factors such as glare, orientation of the aircraft, and low-res zoom. They very well can appear as an isolated blob, as shown on the FLIR IR footage. Fravor then builds on this misunderstanding of immense velocity, going on about impossible technology etc. All when the movement of the object can be explained by camera movement/zoom. I do not consider this expertise in video analysis [somewhat ambiguous what that would mean for analyzing blobs on grainy videos].

Perhaps an avionics engineer or technician- someone who works on things like ATFLIR, could be consulted [which Mick West did, btw, and he agreed the FLIR video is consistent with a plane at distance]. Or an optics expert of some sort, whatever that would be. But that’s not really even necessary, as Mick in his videos shows exactly why he is concluding the footage is consistent with mundane phenomena. Note his careful choice of words in his videos too....”likely xx”, “possibly xx”, etc. He is not saying with apparent certainty “this is what it is and what happened”, as people on the other side like Fravor and other seem to be saying. I appreciate analysis like the videos below much more than what is given above by Fravor [alongside ufo-enthusiast Jeremy Corbell....].

Why does Fravor not even mention these things like change in zoom, and camera lock and panning, they are clearly going on here, visible on the screen, and yet just go along with the sensationalist casual/media narrative of an impossibly fast accelerating craft, with zero careful criticisms/skepticism in sight?

I’ll wait for better evidence than stories and dark, grainy videos (consistent with normal phenomena no less) before believing in ET UFOs playing games in our sky.

I do agree and am perplexed why the govt is going out of its way to confirm the videos and add to the misplaced hype. I don’t get it.
