Working 70-80+ hours per week

What are the down sides to it? I kinda gave up on lifting and sports, and end up just going to bed as soon as i finish work or just boozing anyways. Should i just find a part time job for the evenings so that I basically work all the time im not sleeping? srs

Did 90 hours a week for a few months. Downside? A huge burn out. That chit sucks.
Was worth the money though.

Whatever keeps you busy, going, and motivated, OP. As long as you’re still balancing everything else. I don’t take any days off because I get bored and feel lazy when I’m not doing anything.

good for you, I average 40-50. Not worth sacrificing my health for the extra money.

What's your end goal?

I know there are IB guys who do 80 hour weeks, basically married to the job. It leads to ruin in marriages and family relations or social lives if they have em and keep doing it in the long term, but the smart ones are just in it to make bank and take the fast track out of the rat race. They live below their means and invest.

If you are just spinning your wheels and spending everything, what is the point? Unless you are working for a higher purpose and not just to make really good money. That's how I see it anyways, if it's worth anything. I am somewhat confused as your sig says that you chase bags.

I worked like that for several years in my early 20s and from January to mid April of this year. It was absolutely worth it.

It also teaches you work ethic early on. Back when I worked in accounting, our squad worked 4 months straight without a day off. Weekends were a little different since we pretty much showed up in sweatpants. Best team I was ever part of.

Not heathy at all, Chief. Boozing will eventually catch up to you. Find a heathy hobby or something to do outside of work. Leave the pills alone.

It's easier to bring your goals into focus and figure out a direction if you are just dead sober for a while. You say you want to join the French Foreign Legion, that has mostly been a home for criminals, failed revolutionaries, outcasts, or people who are not sure of their direction in life. It's not necessarily a bad decision, but it takes people who are often lost in life and sends them on some dark tasks.

I say if you are seeking direction then just drop the booze for a bit, a habit of getting intoxicated creates this mental fog that can last a lifetime. When you have clarity, then you can think about where your life is going and where you want it to go. If it's the foreign legion then go for it, but it may be something else.

I guess I mean to say that it's easier to take control of your life's direction when you cut out all the distractions and are forced to confront reality. That is just my two cents.

you didn't answer his question. what is YOUR goal? It sounds like your working this much as a coping mechanism to forget about the world/your problems/etc. If you are working that much to keep food on the table for your 6 kids, that is fine. If you are a doctor doing his residency, that's fine. But it seems like your doing it with no goal in site. Get a therapist in your free time

Did it for a year and it took 2 or 3 more off my life. I got an ulcer, other guys in my group started putting on weight, had hair falling out, etc.

I would srsly re-evaluate what goals you are considering literally killing yourself for.

Nothing wrong if you are rewarded. I know Americans who will work those hours as part of their wagecel job and vwery quickly your 6 figure income becomes minimum wage.

Not worth it at all IMO. The misc talks a lot about career/money-maxxing solving problems, but from my experience, that chit is a total meme. I'm doing really well (no e-stats - low 6 figures in a non-coastal city) for my age, but unless you're talking about 1%er level incomes where you can literally fly women out to international destinations in business class or drop Gs on table service at a club without blinking an eye, getting paid a high salary alone in exchange for spending your precious time generating money for someone else isn't all that fulfilling.

I don't want to sound ungrateful because I do realize there are luxuries I can afford that many can't (i.e. a luxury 1BDR in most cities, international travel, etc.), but I constantly think about quitting my stressful consulting gig to do something more chill so I can actually have time to enjoy my life and pursue hobbies beyond sleep-gym-work-meal prep/eat-repeat. It's really tough to build social circles/relationships too if you're constantly either working or burnt out from crazy weeks at work.

When will you find time to grow spiritually? To have thought about life? Like what are you even going to buy, assuming you already have a decent amount of income, then what are you planning on working so hard for? Unless you’re trying to buy a Ferrari soon, I don’t see a point.
