Someday? Someday my dream will come? One night you will wake up and discover it never happened. It's all turned around on you. It never will. Suddenly you are old. Didn't happen, and it never will, because you were never going to do it anyway.

Oh yes- Funnily enough the tag on the Griffith plush has "Guts" as its name.

i just now watched berserk 97. Probably started 3 weeks before he died of all things (only watch an ep a day). I was very surprised. I was going into it thinking it was some brainless, gory hack and slash and it turned out to be profoundly deep/emotional. The ending totally blew me away. Just finished the 3 movies and starting on 2016 tomorrow. Also reading the manga now too.

Actually thats In Darkness Ink, its a bit of a mix between a biography(sadly now a rather complete one), and a dive into Berserk, its world, and what it's inspired. The manga is still very much worth reading to its end btw.

It is such an easy series to get a wrong impression from- The name Berserk, the beginning of the Manga/the initial impression of Guts seems like its going to be a very basic story, yet it ends up being something that manages to be incredibly deep despite not hammering you over the head with anything.

It's sad since despite all the jokes about hiatus and Berserk not getting finished, unlike GRRM, Miura was clearly gunning directly to the end of the story as fast as he possibly could with integrity during his final years.

Great setup there. Just finished watching the CGI series. It starts off badly but actually gets better as it goes along in terms of the animation style. Read the manga. But never watched the animated series from the 90s. Loved the movies from Netflix though. Thinking of getting this statue especially now with Kentaro's death.

There are two versions.

Watch the older one then watch the newer one.

They don't finish of course as the GUTS story would go another 100 episodes.

Will do. Recently learned of Berserk as it being an influence on DarkSouls.

The movies are a great way to hook people into the series, and it does a select few things better than the OG series, like introducing Skull Knight, and the 100 man fight, but they cut out some of the absolute most essential scenes.
I'm gonna need to get the Griffith statue thats on preorder and have my Guts statue and it on either end of the shrine at this point.

Skip the new series, watch the old one and if you like the movies. And OFC read the manga.

Massive influence. In some ways obvious, in other ways subtle. Not just Dark Souls but Bloodborne and Sekiro as well, Miyazaki loves Berserk and I can only imagine the game after Elden Ring will be a love letter to Berserk.

That's pretty sweet. But yeah, the Golden Age Arc on Netflix are a great trilogy of animated films. Love them. The 100 man fight is fukking awesome. Haha. Just really curious what statement they put out regarding Berserk without Kentaro Muira.

Currently only have this one but really thinking of getting more statues.

The 100 man fight in the movies is the one spot they definitively improved on from the OG series. However they cut out some of my favorite the most important scenes.

(ENG voice acting, but the scene where Griffith contemplates a simple life with Casca)

Love Berserk 97, never read the manga, but heard it's even better.

I read somewhere that his team has the script for the whole story.

Berserk 97 is only about 10% of the story. Manga all the way.

Rip. And right before the blood super moon eclipse that’s like the eclipse in berserk.

Not really a fan of conspiracies but wouldn’t be surprised if some big occult event happens on or around 5/26 in conjunction with such a synchronicity. Not nearly on par with the god hand inducting it’s 5th member, but maybe something along the lines of a hawk or cern making some huge discovery, etc

I would recommend reading the manga instead. Imo it's far superior and the art is amazing once you get past the first couple of volumes.

I've only watched the Anime, and loved it - and Guts might possibly be my favorite fictional character, for the manga readers - did it seem like the story was anywhere close to possibly being completed?

Manga is the goat but season 1 is great too. The english dub is the best. Great voice actors and amazing soundtrack.

Wanna watch some chit while I game right tbh, this is worth watching tho? What other good animes worth watching? I like the dark brutal aesthetic of Berserk, so any other animes like that I'd watch. None of that fairy goofy chit.

Bout 15 mins into this episode and it's pretty sick ngl. The giant lizard dude looks badass

It's probably the darkest anime out there. But you'd do yourself a disservice to watch it half assed while gaming. It's really good.

I watched the movie trilogy on Netflix, and thought it was great. Tried watching the newer anime, and just couldn't get past the animation lol. However I found the story to be great, and will consider buying the manga. How much "story" or "episodes" worth of material am I missing before and after that trilogy?

Btw I liked the Easter eggs in the PS3 Dragons Dogma lol.

The original 25 episodes are way better than the trilogy. They're on youtube. Watch the english dub. (rare case where it's better than the original)
