This is why I do not believe in the death penality
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/05/21/u...ion/index.html
Those who commit such terrible crimes that are deserving of it are given nothing but an easy way out. Death is simply an escape. It is not a punishment.
Ive said many times for any criminal who is a threat to society they need to be sent to a prison of hard labor. Make them bust rocks with a sledgehammer 10 yrs a day 6 days a week. Make them dig ditches . . But no. we send them to a rent free, meal free boarding house with booze, drugs, cable tv you name it.
and people wonder why so many go to prison and then do not care if they go back. They weigh the risk vs the reward. If they get away with it many times they might be set for life with money and if they dont they go back to a motel with cable tv, and all the booze and drugs money can buy.
Then you have these private owned prisons who make inmates work for 25cents an hr. producing their items to be sold out in the free world.
This is why politicians are the scum of the earth. they care for nothing but their pocket books and bank accounts and will sign or pass any bill into law no matter how badly it effects society and the country as a whole.

the thing is how can you force them to work 10 years a day? give them a tool and they might attack you with it. they wont respond or do as you ask, they are wild savage animals.

Labor camps were considered inhumane by the same people that say the death penalty is inhumane. That’s why we don’t have them anymore.
Honestly though, some of the methods were pretty bad. They were used in concentration camps etc under post modern dictators and run by very bad people. In some cases, it required bad people to run them because it took bad people to do such bad things to other humans. For instance, being forced to dig a big hole, then fill back in for the next person to dig, or, they just keep making you do it until you lose your mind.
The problem is doing work that is the opposite of fulfilling and meaningful. Your life is reduced to nothing meaningful. In prison today, you work, but it’s meaningful, like laundry, cooking, cleaning...There has been a lot of psychology done in this area, and labor camps should not be taken lightly.
It’s a very thin, moral line.

One party system; Most Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.
Hayek and Mises were right; they're all socialists.

Yeah we should definitely make sure forensics for old cases are done before executing anyone. With modern forensics though I am good with the death penalty.
And no, death isn't an easy way out. There's a reason 99% of murderers do everything they can to avoid riding the lightning.

I witnessed a brutal homicide when I was a wee lass. Going to have to side with OP on this one, except with the addendum that they be tortured to death by the victim's family after 30 years of labor or when their bodies can't be pushed any more.
I'd start by ripping off the fingernails and toenails, pausing if he passed out.

i agree that some criminal minds there are just no hope for and no deterrent that will keep them from what they do.
the savage animals can go to the super max or some chit like that. but say an armed robbery, a burgler who breaks into others homes, car jackers, etc etc make them bust their azz while they are there.
again they get caught and many dont care cause of what they have in prison. cable tv, sports, some allow women to come for sex, some allow tvs in their jail cells any drug on the street is just as easy to score in a prison. they get high all day, drink. they dont give a chit if they go back or not.
phucking politicans, attorneys, some judges......the police go our risking their neck locking people up who are a danger to others and the system will turn around and put them right back out on the street.
Obama released 1000's of nonviolent drug offenders which I agreed with him doing. But what I didnt agree with him on he also released the ones who were caught with a firearm as well.. If they ere carrying a gun they were prepared to use it.. The nonviolent offfenders who had no weapons I think obama made a good call but what possessed him to release the ones who were felons carrying guns is something I dont understand.
its really pointless for us to debate discuss it cause its not going to change or get better. Only worse.

Death penalty
DNA evidence,
Video evidence.
Has anyone even seen prison documentaries?
In the US prisoners are treated like it's daycamp.
If you disagree, I suggest you watch prisons in other countries. They do it right. No food, no bed, they have to get their own money or drop dead unless they have family.
