Berserk is the only manga I have ever read because I wanted to know what happened after finishing the 97 anime. I've never been so drawn to a story before reading the manga, it was even better than the anime. I think I caught up with the manga from start to where it's at now in about 2 weeks.

Rumors are the manga will continue though because apparently Kentaro has been training a group of assistants for some years now and gave them plot points in case he died. Hopefully it lives up to it if they decide to continue.

It's possible- Miura was the antithesis of GRRM, in the sense that he was gracious to his fans and acutely aware of his mortality, never wanting to leave it unfinished, and despite the gaps between chapters, cramming in major reveal after major reveal with a clear course to the conclusion. On the other hand, Miura has an incredible talent at a "less is more" storytelling approach that will be hard for anyone to emulate, even with a script.

In the manga, Miura was clearly gunning for the ending. How close it actually was to completion is hard to say.

Dragons Dogma and Dark Souls are full on inspired by Berserk- The newest anime series is truly vile and they need to publicly apologize. There is just one prologue arc before the movie/series(the golden age), called the black swordsman arc. After it there is quite the substantial amount of material, all of it great aside from one widely maligned arc.

How many chapters are there in the manga?

I started it years ago and stopped for one reason or another.

Has it come to a conclusion?
There were several books (Millennium series is one example) and manga series where the author died before finishing them. Strange feels knowing that they had great ideas and never had enough time to get them all out there for the masses.

If you end up liking it, definitely either check out the manga or the 97 series. While the movies do a good job at telling the story in a condensed manner there are some massively important character scenes omitted.

my gut feeling is that the assistants finish the story. srs.

Hopefully an anime studio puts respect on kentaros name, and does a proper anime for it, and not the 3d crap we got (even though i enjoyed it because it was still berserk). Need to see the wyald stuff animated without censoring

Sadly there is no conclusion, however he had been training assistants. He seemed acutely aware of his mortality, though to what degree its unclear, and in recent chapters was clearly laser focused on finishing the series up as quickly as possible while maintaining integrity. In stark contrast to someone like GRRM it seemed important to him to finish the series so theres a chance he left a road map to concluding it. As far as official word, the only thing out there is a tweet from his assistant saying that he will do his best.

Just off the Berserk subreddit. But no one actually knows for sure yet what's going to happen.

Even if they decide not to continue the manga, I hope we at least get a light novel or something of how it ends.

What is egg of kings supposed to be? Is that like a lord of the rings thing? What powers did it give? Griffin was captured and tortured pretty easily with it on

I agree since, again, Miura definitely cared about finishing the series so I think at least some steps were made to prepare his assistants. Whether they are up to the task or not, we will have to see.

Oh Attack on Titan has a good budget and production value but is trash tier, squandering an interesting setup.

The end of the movie will clarify, but suffice it to say its not the kind of charm that does anything passively, but rather in certain instances.

The head assistant allegedly was told the ending and I am sure there are some drafts at a bare minimum, so some kind of conclusion is likely since Berserk sold so well it makes sense from the cynical monetary side of things as well as the artistic side, with him wanting the series to be finished.

It'll take time though and I hope the fanbase doesn't stress the assistants out to the point of alienation since right now those who were closest to Miura are undoubtedly working through their grief.

I was a big fan of AOT until it got way too convoluted. Just couldn't follow it anymore. Such a shame since it has such a fun and interesting premise. Creator then decided to piss in his own mouth.

Once the main character gets resurrected I recall it being the initial turning point in terms of the tone/how promising the series was, and it also became clear they had no idea what to do with the story.

How can you say that? Griffith was always destined to become a member of the god-hand. He was pre-ordained by causality. His story is unbelievably inspiring and terrifying at the same time. Grows up an orphan looking up at the castle on the hill, and through sheer will becomes the greatest military leader of his age and creates the Band of the Hawk.

Then he allows himself to succumb to carnal desires and fuks the princess, and loses his agency and ability to do anything through the worst torture/defilement imaginable. He loses the Behelit in the process and only through sheer luck (causality) does he realize he had a choice.

They’re thrust into a hurricane of insanity and through the sacrifice of the entire Band of the Hawk he becomes a fuking godlike, otherworldly telekinetic invulnerable deity with the power of causality.

You don’t know what you’re taking about.
